I was hopping that maybe at the Saturday evening meal or some time set aside for it that everyone knew about , we could have an introduction time.
I went to the Colorado National rally and never did know half the people there. It's nice to put faces with the names on here.
just an idea.

Like who in the world is Koinz? have you ever seen a picture on here of this guy? ::025::

I am getting stoked about the ride. It will be great to get out to meet up with all you guys. I'll be trailering my stuff up there, however, and sharing a room with TrueGrip at the Koolwink. I look forward to getting in some miles and seeing part of this beautiful area. Many thanks to TrueGrip for sharing the room with me and also for riding along for the trip up there and back. I have had the pleasure of riding with him a couple of times here locally and he truly is a great person to ride with. It will be great company travelling with him.

See you all in about a week!

My buddy GuzziTodd is picking up his S10 from Romney Cycles today. I'll be meeting him tomorrow @ lunch time in Breezewood or Everett, PA and we will be staying @ KoolWink. If any of you are getting in early, come say hi.

Lookin forward to meeting all you dirt-heads or seeing youse again, as the case may be! :)

I've had a busy week added a couple stable-mates for the S10 to hang with.

Congrats on this one. Without any reservation, that DR is the most fun little dual sport I've ever owned. Easy to create a long list of how it doesn't measure up to the other bikes in the market, but the grin factor is off the charts.

Put my new E07 on this morning while listening to Red Stegals Cowboy Corner on the radio. Love the western music and cowboy poetry. Still think I would have made a good Cowboy the old Cowboy who rode the range with a string of horses. I was born 100 years to late for that. As Red would say I got that E07 saucered and blowed. See y'all soon!

I think a few people should spray paint some rocks gold and lay them around the campsite @ Romney for eemsreno to "accidentally" find.

My wife prob wishes I was a cowboy, have way too many horses outside and I don't ride them. I still love her though whatever her hobby is. I just enjoy her wanting to go for a ride on the Tenere. Just sent saddles off to daylong on Monday to have them reworked for her comfort. Guess I'll be using a milk crate to ride to Romney Thursday.

A few final thoughts as we all get ready to roll.

If you haven't already done so, please take a few minutes to read the Welcome document here:
http://cdnmedia.endeavorsuite.com/images/organizations/5423a43a-76e6-4879-a928-197bdee07a35/Romney%20Welcome%202015%204%2023.pdf

If you are near a printer, please print and complete the ICE document now:
http://cdnmedia.endeavorsuite.com/images/organizations/5423a43a-76e6-4879-a928-197bdee07a35/Romney%20CNR%202015%20ICE%20sheet1.pdf
Once filled out place it in the top pocket of the jacket you'll be wearing at Romney.

Routes - if you have downloaded and are planing to use any of the routes that were posted here, please keep in mind it may have been a long time since anyone has checked these roads. The description may or may not be out of date.

GPS - GPS works in most locations, but not all. I found my GPS completely quit on the Mountains and Mud route that was posted. Most likely due to the steep mountains surrounding the ride and lack of available sky above. Suggest having a map with you.

Fuel - Less of a concern for the Teneres, but if you're on a 2 gallon dual sport, think about your fuel. Depending on where you go, there can be some pretty long distances to get to a gas station. Keep in mind you are not in the city. Fuel is not scarce, but may be more than 20 miles to find the next station.

Coffee - H14 (from ADV) will not be able to join us due to his wife's health issue, which he has documented on ADV. He's disappointed they cannot join us again this year, but he still wanted to contribute the coffee and is roasting it this weekend. Please keep Kevin (H14) and Rhonda(Campcook) in your thoughts and prayers.
Kevin has suggested a tip jar be setup by the coffee for those that would like to leave a tip. All of the coffee tip money collected will be donated to the school. If any of you beat me to setting up a tip jar, please go right ahead and make it happen.
We look forward to seeing Kevin and Rhonda back at Romney in 2016.

Restaurants - trust me, the more you guys know me, the more absurd it is to think of me as a restaurant guide. Although there are a few I know about that are worth sharing.

Seneca Rocks - The Front Porch Restaurant at the intersection of 33 and 28. Porch has a great view of the rocks. It's not large, but I have never had a problem getting a seat outside. There are a few tables inside, but the attraction here is the view from the porch.

Parsons - Little Andi's Restaurant - 179 Water Plant Road, Parsons, WV. If you've ridden with me in the last two years of Romney, you've eaten here. Nice place, convenient to Rt 72, Canyon Ridge Road, and some others.

Davis - Windwood Fly In Resort, Cortland Road, Hc 70, Davis, WV. It's off Rt 32 about 9 miles south of Davis. Follow the airport signs. This has become our favorite place to stay and eat around Davis. Food is great, nice view of mountains and airstrip. Order the "Cessna." Convenient to Rt 72, Canyon Ridge Road, Canaan Valley State Park, Blackwater Falls.

Cass - The Last Run Restaurant. Located in the large white building by the trains. Very simple food, in a good setting if you like trains. Although it will still be off season for them, so I'm not positive this place will be open.

The charity raffle for the GoPro and the other items will be held after dinner on Saturday night. Probably around 7:30. There have been no tickets sold to anyone outside of the event, so the plan is to make this a 'you must be present to win' event.

On a related note, if you secretly wish you could play Master of Ceremonies at a motorcycle rally, hold the microphone and do all the announcing...dreams can come true. See me or any of the Romney management. The dream makers. ;)

Keep in mind, we're all just a bunch of strangers. I would be stunned if anyone knew even 50% of the people that are coming. Be open to making new friends and learning more about the people who make up your adventure bike riding community. It's all good. If you think you are going to have a bad attitude, leave it at home. It will be waiting there for you when you get back. Come here expecting to have a good time, with good people.

On a personal note, I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can. Please forgive me if I don't instantly recognize you from a previous conversation we may have had in this thread. With over 160 people coming, I know most of you through your avatar picture, or my likely mispronounced expectation of how to say your screen name. I don't mean to be rude, but my recall capacity is limited. Thank you for coming.

Did I mention, please read the Welcome letter and complete your ICE form before leaving home? Here's the link.

links no work. Here they are from an earlier post by Checks.

1. An Intro/Welcome/Guidance document. This has a lot of info about the event and Dirt Dad's being modest in not mentioning his hand in this!
Romney Welcome 2015 4 23

2. An In Case of Emergency sheet which can be printed on one piece of paper if 2-sided. Please ensure that you have one of these on you, at least when riding. The copy on the web-site tonight has some notes cut-off along the right edge, so we hope to re-post a clean full version tomorrow.
Romney CNR 2015 ICE sheet

The third document is an as-yet unfinished Emergency Plan (E-plan) which is a mash-up of a info from US Forest Service, NHTSA, and others that we will have on the website next week.
(http://www.romneycycles.com/eventslist.htm?groupId=43777&itemId=227180) When bad stuff happens, it is amazing how fast our little pea-brains do dumb things, so this is a checklist framework for what to do. As with the ICE form, it is truly a case of "plan for the worst and work for the best" which we've blatantly copied from the US Forest Service because they have a proven model.
Also... looked for a posted GPX track on the "mountains & mud" ride you alluded to and could not find. Did I miss something?

Thanks for letting me know. Those links worked on the other two sites, but not this one. Updated now.

Mountains and Mud was referenced here.

The direct link to the map is here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7491869
You should see and Export tab near the top right of that screen. You can grab a gpx from that.
Or another source is the dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xgfaz6p8v5mvk1q/AAChJTKMI0rHGnrnJkiJa2kma?dl=0
Listed under 2015 Romney Mountains and Mud

Trike - if you're going to consider riding in the area of Mountains and Mud, there's a road out there where you can truly get hardcore. This was one of the better spots on it:

I believe these are some other shots from that road, but we didn't bother going this far: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=26623909&postcount=1019

Let me know if you're going that direction and I'll let you know where to find it...and yes, it's a legitimate numbered road on a map.

Looks great, I hope I can find some of this. ::012::
I had a feeling you boys would like this.

That is 12 mile road. I played a bit on that one a couple of weeks ago with the DR. I slapped together a quick video this morning. Here's what it looked like then.

12 Mile Road

This map that takes you from Thomas to 12 mile road: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7630540. This route just dumps you out there. Play around. Go right at the Y and you'll end up at a closed gate, or at least it was closed two weeks ago. It's a short segment, but fun. Some years they never get around to opening that part of the road. Go left at the Y and you're riding down that stream bed on 12 Mile Road.

Following the Mountain and Mud route will get you very close to 12 mile road.

I am getting pumped for this ride.
Bike is packed and ready to go and I don't leave for four days yet.
Not interested in muddy Jeep trails but gravel roads and fire trails, Ohh yea !!

IL, the land of straight, flat, boring roads
Left IL this morning and rode 450 miles to Chattanooga, TN to meet up with my son who rode up from Biloxi. Tomorrow we will ride into NC and meet up with Brick. Tues and Wed we'll explore more back roads in NC and VA and then Thurs we will be riding into Romney. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
