Shutting engine off in traffic.....

If the tenere idles more than 20 minutes it shuts off, kind of idiot proof for those who start the bikes in the cold and go in for a coffee.
It's in one of the manuals.

Don't know why anyone would ever let a bike (or car) idle this long to "warm up"!!!

??? Keep it in gear, when your stopped. Too many motorcyclist have done this and unfortuanly are no longer with us. Keep it in gear to react.

I concur. As a motorcyclist, we are ALWAYS on the defensive. We are not seen, not anticipated, not given due consideration. It's a fact of life. Be prepared, be defensive, be ready to react to the stupidity and/or incompetence of many drivers. They abound. Man, you should see this place. The drivers up here are the worst in the universe. R

I keep mine running unless long trains or strange road construction.. As several others have said.....

On the topic, one time it probably saved my life. I was on a two way street, a car in front of me stopped to turn left and they where waiting for traffic... I could see this just as I rolled up behind this person on the RIGHT side of the lane... next to the dirt, when I next heard loud screeching tires..... that second I pulled off into the grass and next to the car that was in front of me when the person locking up there brakes slammed into the car that I was waiting on....... from about 45-50mph....... Made me pee my pants.... If I was parked in the middle of the lane or to the left I probably would not be typing this right now.....

Little different than lining up at a light, like the first post was about...... but I was waiting for this dumb car to turn for several minutes...... Any-who... leave it on IMOP..... ???
