When I need to replace my Karoo 3's, I'm totally getting these. I've heard plenty of good things about them.

My buddy just got a set for his BMW F800 GS. These things look "Crazy Knobby" but have gotten good reviews on mileage & ride quality. I'm waiting to see how they do on this years trip to Colorado before I switch out the TKC80's on my Super T. Curious to see what kind of mileage he gets out of them. They are definitely cheaper than the TKC80's & if they get the same/or better mileage & ride quality, it will a tire worth giving a spin.

Testing them on my 2005 KLR first. Should be ordering a set next month for the Tenere.

My Tenere is in the shop until, maybe, April 10th. Thinking about adding the Shinko 804/805's for a trip. I am putting my KLR back on the road(s) so I am going to install a set of Shinko 804/805's to see how they handle on & off road. Mainly testing them on dirt and gravel roads but need to see how they ride in sand. The KLR is easier to ride off-road than the 600# Tenere. If I like the Shinko's I will install a set on the Tenere before leaving on the trip.

The only knob's I have ridden were the T63's. Worked well off-road but howled on the highway. Hoping the Shinko's are quieter and work better in mud and sand.

After I gave up riding the Tenere on sand (I hate you sand!), my buddy let me try his KLR and holy cow is that a world of difference. I know the KLR is really heavy for its size but jeez does it feel like a feather compared to the S10!

Well initial review of the Shinko 804/805 tires...these things hook up in the dirt and mud. Normally I run a set of K60s and ride off pavement in TC2 or TC off depending on my mood. Where the K60 would fail me in the mud and make things difficult, the 805 rear just dug in and clawed it's way out. The treads cleared mud out quickly. I was able to crawl my way up some pretty steep shale rock "steps." Several moments on dry dirt I pushed the limits of traction and it just kept hooking up. Pavement they were surprisingly smooth and I was able to ride just as hard as I did on the K60. It is not a street performance tire by any stretch of the imagination but I was very impressed with the ability to stick in the twisties. I had a quick ride today in the rain and didn't have any real pucker moments on wet pavement(I ride very conservative in the wet).

Again a thanks to Jaxon for hooking me up with these when all I was doing was dropping off a few things for him. It was great being able to see them in person and have him say, "You want to try a set?" I was sold then and there. Always fun to test out some new tires.

every try a TKC60 in the front? If so how does it compare?
If you mean TKC80??? No, I have not tried one of those on the front. But I am always willing to sacrifice body and bike in the name of science so maybe next time I can do a back to back comparison of those.

I'm really tempted by these. The price difference compared to the K60s is a huge plus. My main concern is that I do most of my riding on the street (not by choice) but I am also very new to off road so I want tires that will inspire confidence and not make matters worse. When I do go offroad it will likely involve some fairly serious dirt in SoCals OHV areas.

Can anyone comment further on street capabilities of the 804/805 and longevity? Currently on the stock battlewings.

These new tires are pretty good on the street for my use. I don't push too hard but I was used to the K60. When these give up the ghost, I will post how many miles I get out of them. I average about 15k a year, so won't take long to get there.
