You know, it's weird... But given all the discussion about delivery dates, how many orders has Yamaha taken, how many USA S-10's will be produced, etc., something just doesn't add up.

For instance, if you look at the first page of this thread - where the list of order numbers, order dates, etc. are shown - you will see that as of today (03/08/11) the last order number shown is 178728, and the first order number is 155951. Now it doesn't take a mathematical genius to do a simple calculation...

178728 - 155951 = 22,777

Now we all know that there is simply no possible way Yamaha has taken orders for over 22,000 Super Tenere's in North America, so what is the rhyme or reason behind the PDP order numbering system?

Doesn't make much, if any sense, now does it?

My Yamaha dealer says that order numbering sequence isn't just for Super Tenere orders received by Yamaha USA. Rather, it is any order they get and may even include parts orders.

That's my understanding as well. We've used it simply because it gives an idea of the sequence in which one was ordered.

Dealer said Yamaha is telling him August 2011 but he would anticipate September. He expects to know more next week but there is no doubt a lot more to deal with in Japan right now.
