I have now removed the stock battery and replaced it with a LiFePo battery from Batterystuff.com. I dud it without loosening my AltRider lower bars. It takes some finesse but it can be done. You do have to push the wiring in to clear it. Chronicled with pictures in my "What Tenere Guy has been doing lately" thread.

I have also removed and replaced the battery in my Tenere a few times with TRex crashbars, it’s a very close fit but definitely doable without messing with the crashbars.

Adding to the chorus - I've replaced my battery and done quite a bit of other wiring with both the upper and lower Altrider bars in-place. Didn't have to loosen any bolts. For some of it, it was a tight fit, but just took a bit of finesse.

My main problem has been a life-long finesse deficiency.

I sure don't know how they manage it, thughes. I had a Platinum Start XTZ14S, and the battery couldn't even be pulled all the way out of the battery box before it hit the crash bar. There was no way twist it or rotate it to work it out.

Removing the battery with the AltRider bars in place is easily done without loosening any bolts on the AltRider bars.
