I was wondering if anyone has found an aftermarket seat for our bikes yet. I am ready to send mine out, unless a clear equal alternative is out there. I think the seat is probably the most important mod for me. I think Russell is getting my pan soon.

Several of us have emailed Sargent, who thanked us for contacting them, but they had not received enough requests yet. I told them that these bikes jsut got here a couple weeks ago and encourage all those interested to contact them. Since it may be several months beforet hey come out with a World Sport seat for ourbikes, I may send mine to them to be redone, but hate to be without it for whatever time it takes to get it done.

Are you in Florida now, Clem? It would help if someone could ride to Sargent to show them the seat. I think they are in Jacksonville.

thanks, I was wondering what the status was. I will look them up, and yes I am still in Florida for a couple more weeks. I was waiting to get the bike, farklize it, then head North. I fear doing the next long ride with this current seat. Of all the things on this bike, I do not find the seat comfortable at all. I have a date for Russell in September though if I make it that long.

Clem,
I am with you. This is the only seat/bike I've owned that hurt my tail bone and it looks like a Russell Daylong is in order.
I will try an Airhawk and see if that will get me thru the rest of this season.

I contacted Sargent in Jax and volunteered. Perhaps there is someone closer to them and it could be afternoon stop by. Hard to beat a Russell though.

Good point for 115.00 it's worth having another. I do not plan on selling this bike very soon. I usually ride the frame/pillow for a few weeks until my seat comes in.

That sounds like a good way to get around not having a seat while a new one is being made. I'll check at work tomorrow and see if we can find the part number, price, and availability. Since the low seat retails for $239.95, the $115 price seems tgtbt.

Russell will take an order and let you keep riding until right before the build date if you get it to them on time (fedex etc.). One other thought is for a few peeps to go together $15-20 each and get a spare stock seat and send to each other after getting their seat back--spread the wait around without anyone not riding while waiting to get their seat back. I'd participate in that kind of thing maybe????

Another cost saving option would be a group buy. I would like to join one if someone puts together a group buy.

Sounds like a plan...
I have never had a Russell seat. Is it soft to begin with? I had a Corbin and my ass never got broke in.. ::)
I have had an Ultimate and that was a great seat.

When I road the demo, I sure don't remember the seat being this hard. I have thought about taken a ball bat to it, or find a 300 pounder to break it in.. :))

A Russell seat IS the benchmark of all seats. I know many many others have stated all kinds of conjecture about how "others" are good, but nothing comes close. It fits YOU perfectly, thats why it costs a little more, that is why it takes a little longer to get one.

The stock seat to me is a brick, and sadly, I will have to spend more money on something I think should be standard with this type of bike.

I've always been of the belief that you should try the stock seat for at least 2K miles before jumping ship. It took me less than 200 miles to "know" that the OEM seat on my KLR would not make it and I'm only at about 500 on my SuperT OEM seat so far. It's okay, is all I can say so far. I don't find it too hard and actually I prefer a firmer seat as all to often on a longer ride a comfy seat turns to mush.

I have had VERY good luck with the Sargent seat on many of my bikes. Corbin has worked for me too on a couple of my early ST1100's. Had one Russel (came with a used bike) and could not get past the fuglinees of it - but that was just me as virtually everyone loves their comfort.

I bought a little sheepskin thingy to go over the seat, which really helps. I also had the seat on incorrectly as was pointed out to me when I took it in for the heated grip install. I didn't hook the aft of the seat UNDER the catch at the rear, which emphasized the forward pitch. Glad he caught it. Feels a lot better now. R

I have reduced the tilt on the seat and have tried both beads and a sheepskin. I need more... either, I will buy an after market seat or I will find someone to reshape and refoam the existing seat.
