Maybe they think that it was an alarm unit.
Its a worldcrosser from July 2014, hoe can i see that it is a ES version? It has the 'new' dashboard and cruisecontrol etc
It's a Gen2 bike - Just check for the wiring connectors to the front fork tops & rear shock, along with the extra menus on the dash.

Will there be some form of insurance marker if the bike was written off?

Zooming in on the left fork cap, Think I can see the electrical connector there.

All second gen bikes have the new dash and cruise control whether they have ES or not. Also I can’t imagine you would not have a suspension malfunction light illuminated and a malfunction code displayed on the right side of the dash if the SCU were removed from an ES model. Did you notice any error messages when you test rode it.

Beautiful bike and so easy to be tempted but I would walk away and look elsewhere if it's a private sale.

Buy in haste and regret at leisure

Too many unknowns for me which could cost a fortune to put right and you may find other problems

Walk away. Most likely this motorcycle was stolen and recovered and will be flagged as such. This flag will cost you a lot of money if and when you sell the machine on. If you are intent on buying, make sure that the red key at least come with the motorcycle.

Thanks for all the help! I will call the dealer today, hoping that they can give more information about the history of the bike.
Both fork tops have a electronical connector.
Its not a private sale, its a normale (little) shop who sells the bike.

It would be nice if I had a SCU unit witch I could connect to test everything.
I keep you posted!

Till now the research results in a testdrive next saturday, the story is true, only the scu module is stolen.
The next question in this topic, i can buy a used SCU unit from a 2017 model.
The hardware is the same, but the art.nr are a different.

The 2014 model: 132KB-85902-00 SUSPENSION CONTROL UNIT
The 2017 model: BP9-85902-00 SUSPENSION CONTROL UNIT

Can anyone tell me if it had a change to try this?
And, do I need a Yamaha Dealer to 'connect' the SCU to the ECU?

Thanks in advance!
Paul

Congratulations Paul,

beautiful machine, keep an eye out on the good ol’ interwebs. Now and then the parts pop up. And a call to Boonstra (Ureterp) doesn’t hurt.

Enjoy!

I think it should just plug right in as long as there aren’t any other issues with the suspension control system. Disconnect the battery while attaching electrical components as a cautionary rule.
