Goodmorning,

I'm new at this forum. My name is Paul and I'm riding a TDM850.
But, i will buy a Super Tenere, and i am searching for one since a few months.

This weekend i have seen a realy nice one, an XT1200Z Super Tenere World Crosser from 2014 but there is a story by the bike.
The Suspension Control Unit has been stolen and is missing on the bike.

That unit is an expensive, its 1150 euro at the dealer.
And, under the buddy, the SCU is missing and I see also 2 other plugs, both with 4 wires, there are also not connected.
Does anyone know were these connectors for?
And, this SCU unit, is there a chanche that I can find an used one?

Thanks for the help!

Greetings,
Paul.

I really don't know, this is the story what they told to me.
Thats also one of my questions. I have seen that the lock of the steering also was broken, but that is easy to fix.
But maybe there is a bigger problem with the suspension and that they have take the SCU unit with this story.

When Ihad a module Icould test is of there are other problems.
The bike ride like new, and looks also very nice. See the picture below:

wow,

thats a great looking bike, there are guys that,ll come along soon hopefully with your answer, i have seen questions about those other 2 leads that are not connected by other guys on here, so i would not over worry about those, because other guys are riding perfectly good bikes with nothing attached to them may be for diagnostics

Hi Paul,

What do you mean with the lock of the steering was also broken?
Also 2014 are the first ZE versions. The price should be really good, otherwise I should look further if I was you...
This kind of damages/issues normally is a no go.

Did you check the VIN number and license plate, to make sure the bike is not stolen?

Best Regards, Jaap

Good point, also one of my questions.
The seller says that he buy it from the insurance company.

The bike runs like new, gifs only an error from the suspension.
For a price of 8500 its not bad, but when it looks to nice to be true........

So, after replacing the SCU, and ignition, is it still a good deal. I wouldn't buy without those repairs made.

He says the lock is broken. I am assuming he means the ignition. So . . . .

I found it hard to explane, the original keys are with the bike, but they forced the steeringlock to open.
That small pin at the botum of the unit was broken but is already replaced yet.
The ignition etc wasn't broken.

as you can see those 2 connectors nobody knows as theres never been an answer for it

rob
Those unused connectors are diagnostic connectors for the ABS and ECU. One of them can be used to cycle the ABS pump.

Really strange for someone to steal the SCU, they don’t have a history of failing so it’s not clear why someone would want one. Are you 100% sure this is an ES version?

Look at the shock, and the top of the fork tubes. An ES will have wires coming out of both. A non-ES will have a knob on the shock. Oh, and grip heaters.
