Sargent's R&D Department up in Jax just got their first look at the motorcycle (mine) this last Tuesday. We’ll probably get updates on their plans and progress, but in the mean time their lead person (mary@sargent) is a member here. Perhaps she'd respond to a pm.

Thanks for the response.
I had one of their seats on my Tuono and loved it.
I hope they come up with something as good for the Tenere.

Renazco is currently making custom seats for the S10. They plan to complete a 'semi-custom' (pre-made) model in a few months. Seems like the options just keep increasing ::008:: If you like a comfy seat that still retains a dual sport shape, they're hard to beat. (not affiliated)

Thanks!!! Unless something really great shows up between now and next Spring, I plan to go with the Sargent offering when it becomes availablle.

Yeah, the Renazco is mine. I contacted James months ago and he has my extra seat at his place now. Hopefully he can start it soon. I will keep you updated on the progress.

Here are some pics of a new OEM seat that I sent to Sargent with my instructions as to how I would like it modified. Basically, I wanted it flatter front to back and side to side and a bit wider.

I left the original rubber bumpers in place and it doesn't have the forward tilt to the extent that the original seat does. I wonder how it would have turned out if I had the lower rear bumpers like I do on my modified original seat. They ask you to use a level and draw a horizontal line on the seat, so they can tell what is level with it on the bike.

I took it for a 75 mile ride today and it felt good. I was comparing it to my original seat that I had shaved the rear bumpers down to the same height as the adjacent plastic ridges and also replaced the gripper cover with a smooth vinyl cover.

A longer ride will tell more, of course, but at this point I like it. It does provide a wider platform toward the rear and the foam is more comfortable for me. I like to sit forward toward the tank at times and I can feel a slight ridge at the very front of the seat. I will see if it breaks in and this ridge compresses with a few miles. It is slight and I may get used to it, or I may send it back and ask them to shave a bit off of the front. They are interested in my feedback, but I want to get more miles on it before sending them my opinion.

When Sargent makes their own replacement seat, they typically use a wider seat pan, so I expect that the replacement seat will be a bit different.

Fred, the new saddle looks impressive! It looks much wider towards the rear which should be a huge improvement over stock.

Anxious to hear how it works out on longer rides.

As I mentioned in my first post on this seat, I wasn't sure if I would get used to the slight rise or ridge in front. The normal seating position seemed to put me back a bit farther than I was used to. When I contacted Sargent about this, they asked me to send pics of me sitting on my bike with their seat and then sitting on my modified (short rear bumpers) OEM seat. Those pics showed that with the Sargent I was sitting back a bit farther than with my leveled OEM seat. Since I prefer to sit close to the tank, this showed me why I wasn't quite satisfied with their modified seat. The farther back seating position also caused me a bit more forward lean and I had already added bar risers to try to alleviate that with the OEM seat.

I sent the seat back along with emailing pics of me sitting on the seat, pics of the seat profile with a small level on it, etc, etc. In a few days I got a prompt reply that they had received the seat and were working on it. Later that same day I got another email that they had finished it, had reshaped the "dish" and it should help, but to let them know if it didn't.

I have now put a few hundred miles on it and it is perfect for me. I sit flat, can sit comfortably near the tank or move back a bit if I choose to for a change and it is very comfortable for me, exactly what I was looking for. BTW then didn't charge a thing to make the last modifications.

We all have different butts and prefer different seats and seating positions, but their mods worked perfectly for me. If I look at pics of the Corbin, for instance, I see this large hump at the front and that would not allow me to sit close to the tank and would force me to sit farther back, increasing my lean. it is more extreme in this respect than the first Sargent mod I had and it would not work for me at all. I am sure others will find the Corbin suits their tastes exactly. In any case here are a couple pics of the final Sargent mods to my seat.
