The Jesses are 9″ Safaris, but if I had it to do it over I would get the 10″ Odyssey. The Safaris interfere with the passengers legs a bit. Too high and forward. I made bracket extenders to move them back and down about 2". That solved the problem and now I love them. Very good kit as the Brits say. ::008::

That might be a good point about plastic and off road. I use mine mostly on the road but I think if I ever do anymore off road adventures I will take it off and tie on my large water proof bag. But for road trips and around town, especially two up, I really like the utility if not the look. Here are some pictures. Makes a nice back rest for the wife also but I did have to modify the shape of the pad to get it comfortable for her. Also I made an extender for the mounting base so I could get it back another inch or two for more room.

Hope this helps,

The top cases look different in pictures #1 and #2 vs #3. Or is this my failing eyes.

Failing eyes for sure! LOL Maybe a camera thing. Pictures taken about 10 seconds apart, just different angles and/or zoom.

Does that Givi ride on the stock plastic rear rack? If so, it would be very easy to overwhelm that rack by loading that top box and riding even moderate dirt.

It does sit on the plastic rack but it is not an issue at all. There is a steel frame under it and it is very tough plastic. And the load is spread out. I don't think you could hurt it if you filled it with lead. ???
I have had mine on from the start. 62,700 miles so far with no issues. And I have carried a lot of heavy stuff in it. Like when I make a run to the pool store, I take two chlorine containers and both fit nicely inside the Givi. When full, that is about 35#. I think that is about as much weight as you can physically get into it.
I have ridden coast to coast and back 3 times with it and it always carries my computer back pack with all my associated stuff in it. Call it 25#. Zero problems. ::012::
The only down side to the large Givi that I can see is the look, and that is personal taste. It doesn't look as utilitarian or as "Adventurie" as some of the others but I don't much care about that and it sure works great for me.

I had the 52L Maxxia on my black 2012 too. The plastic rack Jaeger is talking about is the Givi one, not the stock OEM Yamaha plastic rack. The give-away is the round silver badge on the side.

I had the bike fall over on each side and without the side boxes the Maxxia will hit the ground, marring the plastic. I simply cut the silver part of SOLAS reflective stickers and put over the marred areas.

If I get a givi I plan on using a alt rider rack so I can run power to it if I want. The one from givi doesn't allow that to work , from what I have read and what people have mentioned.
