Alright, I have had the Tenere just over a year and have decided it's time to make some small tweaks.

Number one on the list is a new seat, really want a day long, however number two is a set of rox risers. In looking at how the seat is customized to how 8 fot on the bike, I am guessing I should actually do the risers first and the do the seat once I have them in place. So that takes care of one and two now number three is going to be luggage. I really like Bumot and Nomad, something that wraps the exhaust looks much better to me.

While I have never though of myself as a top box guy, I recently met with a group who showed me how easy it is when you can simply leave your helmet and jacket behind. I may just get a top box to start with for that very reason.

So these are the changes I want to make to my bike, what do you think?

I love my bumots. You might wait a month to try the Heli Bars risers. The seat is super personal. I'm running a Corbin with the seat mod (bracket cut) and I like it. An airhawk fixes any ultra-distance fidgeting.
Oh, and holans take months and months to get now.

Your avatar shows the bike without any accessories. A skid plate and set of bars are insurance for the sump and radiator.

+1 on the crash bars. It was the first thing I did on mine (and 2 previous KLR's). You can probably "nurse it in from the cold" with a tweaked set of bars, crushed turn signals and snapped-off levers but a busted up radiator leaves you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Expensive, too...

I am very happy with my Bumot panniers. Cannot think of a single think I'd change on them. Tight fit and well made.

I'd also agree regarding the skid plate, I'm a big fan of my ACD.

Ditto on the ACD skip plate and a pair of engine bars are also a "must have" item. Don't skimp too much on them either and buy the best/strongest that you can afford.......$$$ spent now can save $$$$$$$$$$$$ later on.

I've been very happy w/ Jesse panniers and Rumbux crash bars & skid plate. Both are rugged - someone backed into my bike at work and tipped her over into a BMW sedan(3 week old) and then onto the ground. Paint scuffs were the only problem.

Just finished my buildout- love the Bumots, but my favorite mod is the suspension upgrade. TRANSFORMS the handling and restores the ride height so I'm not dragging pegs constantly.

I've had the set of Bumot (large size) for over a year and really like them, would absolutely get them again. I use my S10 for commuting and bopping around town and I use the top case by itself. I can fit my suit in it, but not the helmet too. For the helmet, I lock it on the bike with that doo-hickey that locks the helmet under the seat, and when you lock the seat down, your helmet is locked in.

When I go on longer trips, I put on the side panniers for the extra storage and sometimes leave the top box on, sometimes take it off depending on needs/wants.

I went with the smaller top box because it looks sleeker on the bike. I used dry bags on the sides. I liked my bike to look sleek. Bumot are phenomenal boxes. Watch Adventure Bike TV Season 1 Episode 3. Starts around the 41:40 mark. https://vimeo.com/102391292

I like the look of the smaller top box but went with the much larger Givi 52 as it is MUCH more functional. One key consideration for me is that it will hold TWO full coverage helmets. My wife hates to have to carry around a helmet and jacket when we go places like to a movie or eat out. But with the Givi top case and Jesse planers, we can leave everything in the bike so it is much easier for me to talk her into going places on the bike and leave the cage at home. ::008::
Also, I love it when I go to the grocery store and similar errand runs. And of course for those times you don't need it, it pops off.

Can you post some pictures of this setup? I love the idea of two helmets in the top case, just up in the air between that or a matching Bumot.

The big bumot will still only fit one helmet... I used to have a givi 52L on my fz1. It was awesome.
Yeah I'm aware it only fits one. It also would match, and look far far better. That's why I want to see the Givi pics to see if I could somehow justify a non matching one.

While researching those Givi's a week or two ago I did read one owner who said he wouldn't ever put them on a bike that does any sort of off-roading again as the plastic couldn't handle it well over time.

That might be a good point about plastic and off road. I use mine mostly on the road but I think if I ever do anymore off road adventures I will take it off and tie on my large water proof bag. But for road trips and around town, especially two up, I really like the utility if not the look. Here are some pictures. Makes a nice back rest for the wife also but I did have to modify the shape of the pad to get it comfortable for her. Also I made an extender for the mounting base so I could get it back another inch or two for more room.

Hope this helps,
