Very nice Clem. I hope to be in his area next week but I doubt I will buy a seat. Maybe the return trip will convince me.

Got a 2500 mile ride in the next 2 weeks, so I'm going to find real quick like. I betting that it's a hit, the same guy has built all my seats at Russell.

I sent mine out 28 days ago. If I was nearby, I would be doing the ride in. That's the only bad part buying a Russell.

Looks good. Bet you're glad to be able to toss that temporary foam seat. ::012::

Clem, Did you have any tailbone pain previously with the stock seat?

No, I had hot spots in multiple places. The seat was simply way too narrow. But I know they can make a seat for that specifically. Just got back from 50 miles test and they hit it right on. Outstanding!

Looks like a comfy seat, but probably not very practical for off-road use where standing on the pegs and shifting your weight is required. Looks like the 'butt wings' would get in the way.

I am holding out for a seat that looks as close to stock...just more comfortable. The gripper seat cover is great. Helps keep you planted. Ever wonder why real dirt bikes have gripper seats? The Corbin prototype looks closest so far...just hope the seat pan they make fits correctly...I have had fitment issues with every Corbin seat pan I (and all my buddies) have owned (5+ different seats).

Russell shows a 'sport' model as well, less wing. The place where your legs pass when standing doesn't look to be interfered with on their seats. Russell's direct competition a couple miles south in Anderson, Rick Meyer, makes an almost carbon copy minus the large wings. They're both 'local', it's going to be tough to make a choice come spring time.

it came today, makes my bike look like a tractor! its very high and the "pocket" seems a little further back than it should be for my short arms and short fat hairy legs and long torso (i look like a tyrannosaurus rex) so im not sure im going to keep it this way, maybe put a few hundred more miles on it but so far it feels comfy if im sitting on the part im sposed to but not comfy when im where i think i want to be,
i tend to hug the tank (ex road racer) a lot so maybe a russell wasn't meant for me :-\

Bloke,

I have the same on my FJR but the rear of the seat is not that far back and they have an extra pad on the rear of it before my passenger seat making the seating position closer to the tank. ???

What large screen is that you have your Big XT?

I'm jealous, had one on my KLR, best seat ever(it will spoil you) please share your experience. Will probably have to ship mine in seeing how it's a 3000 mile trip, hmmm that's only 3 iron butts ::025:: ::025::
No it is only one iron butt ride if you are doing a bun burner gold double ::025::. Now a trifecta (3 BBGs in a row) is one whale of a ride.

I am sure you could sell it in a few hours if you don't like it. They last about that long on the Vstrom forum. I rode mine for 2- 12 hour, 700 mile days and can't say enough about it. But opinions vary.

Oh most certainly, if you want it, I can get it to you, sent it to the next victim from there. It was a long hard wait, but it's the best addition I made to the bike.
