Does anybody have them mounted on the Jesse bags? Curious if they would work on the top with the loops installed, sides or rear?

I've messed around with that a bit - doesn't fit anywhere particularly well. Right rear or the front either side, perhaps supported by the passenger pegs, would seem to be best.

Koplin 1.5 gallon unofficiall testing update.
Filled it with 5 litres, max is 5.6, and put it cap side down in the back of my truck with a canopy on. Got pretty warm in the afternoon sun and there was a small amount of gas on the plastic tank around the filler but none on the truck bed.
Was able to hand tighten the cap a bit more and left it for the rest of the day and it got pretty warm. Checked it and no new leaks. When I opened the cap there was a good hiss as it was under a bit of pressure.
So it seems this model with the newer style cap works fine if its checked that the cap is well tightened. Was bought Dec. 2011

Yes Utah and rural. But also over to Grand Canyon and several places in between. I know stations are there but I don't want to be thinking about gas and I don't use the Altrider rack for anything anyway so might as well put gas on it.
The AltRider rack was my choice too for a similar reason. A great platform for many uses/options.
I checked again today, trying to get a good idea of fuel economy on the new Tenere. 45 mpg combination stop/go and highway at speeds avg 60. So I always try a conservative estimate and subtract 10% for off road riding this brings me down to 40 mpg. I will keep logging fuel economy to get a good avg of mpg. So 1 additional gallon of fuel will get me another 40 miles down the road. To me it's just good trip planning to calculate fuel range. Some may think it's a bit overkill but to me it's as important as the gear a guy rides in. ATGATT!
It's not a good feeling when your not sure how many miles it is to at least get back to the pavement when your down to that last gallon of petrol. That's if you even know how much fuel you have left as when rollin' on my DR ???

Thanks.
Correctomunedo.
Actually,,, it's on top of Cedar Mesa @ Muley Point looking west over Goosenecks State Park towards Monument Valley. I actually go there more for hiking canyons than riding the motorbike. Some descent loops out there, but nothing to technical. Just great scenery and solitude. Been exploring that part of the country my entire life. Great Adventure/Touring riding.
Here's one more.

I might go with something like this or behind the seat.

I am going to get 1 2gallon container and mount it on the passanger rack to the tail rack. Then put the dryspec tt bags on top of it. That will keep it low and secure.

There are so many "almost" ways to mount a Rotopax, at least on my Tenere. Like most I would like to mount them on the motorcycle side of the sidecases, but not enough room. Next is the bottom of the sidecases, though with off-road clearance concerns.

Rotopax, 2 Gallon Gasoline, SKU: RX-2G
Weight: 5.00 lbs
17 3/4 L x 13 1/4 W x 3 H

Boost, I like your idea and I know Rod has already completed this. I started measuring and discovered the pillion (passenger) seat is approximately 3" tall as is the 2 gallon Rotopax. If the rear rack is lowered the 17 3/4" length of the Rotopax leaves enough room on the tail for a tire repair / tool / first aid kit or whatever (very nice use of space). The 13 1/4" width should barely clear the grab bars leaving the grab bars with less uses. The grab bars can be eliminated or reversed.

This configuration is not perfect for me but it is high on the list. The negative is I was looking forward to having the D38 DrySpec bag mounted low. Also want to mount the heavy gasoline as low as possible for better CoG. Lower than the top of the subframe would be preferred.

Am I over thinking this? Probably but I would prefer not to run out of gas in a difficult location. "its a dark cold rainy night and you are 100 miles from..." The two gallons of gas should provide a real 70 to 90 miles of back country travel.

Let me know your thoughts and ideas.

Question: is there a way to fasten the containers with a flush fastener? Don't like the idea of the raised twist fastener to dig into the bottom of the Drybag.

I think the twist fastener is flush with the surface of the rotopax unless you get the locking style.

I know a low CoG is always the goal, and I keep thinking how easy the bike handles two-up which puts most of the additional weight above the seat. use your own numbers for the two-up additional load, probably more than camping gear... just sayin... ::017:: 16lb at seat level will hardly be noticed.

this....we are over thinking it. Just mount it and go. A passanger weighs more than a 2 gallon gas can and some drybags. Unless you are packing lead weights its not going to matter much.
