It will be only to touch wheel in the states, and a quick blast up the Blue Ridge Parkway too!!!! Then back home!!!
When the bike gets here, we will surely have some ride reports all around.
I understand exactly what you're saying. I can't claim much more than touching a wheel in GA, SC, DE, RI and ME. Glad I made the effort to get some of those checked off the list. Such as Rhode Island, not an easy state to get to, pretty much did a lot of highway for that one... :(

No such thing as a quick blast up the BRP. It is a gorgeous road and should be seen, but ridiculously slow speed limits with federal enforcement rules means nothing fast happens there. I live only an hour from Skyline Drive which is the top portion of the BRP. It has a 35 MPH speed limit for 140+ miles. It is beautiful, but I'll go years without getting on it. It's just soooo slooow.

Dirtdad, while still living in Ohio I managed to ride the BRP several times. The two years before I moved out west here I was able to ride the whole thing twice. Each time I did whole thing in two days. It was a few weeks before memorial day and mid week with almost no traffic. I still have that road as one of the top five in the country.

Great ride report on the S10.

Wife and I just got home after 2 day trip to Talihena, Ok. Ran it twice, saturday afternoon after eating lunch on top at the Queen's lodge, LOL. Can't wait to test the S10 up there.

Very nice 80 degrees on top (73 this morning), while last two hours coming home (Louisiana) both bikes saw 100 degrees air temps. Oh, the speed limit is 55 up there, but it is more terrain limited than speed limits, and the wind which blows all the time, was like 40 knots. Great trip tho.

Just got back from my trip to Romney to ride the Tenere. First off what a great dealer, they made me feel right at home when I walked in Sat. morning. No doubt i picked the right dealer to purchase my Tenere from.

Poured rain like crazy till abou 0800, then cleared off.

Got 2 rides on two different Teneres back to back. I rode the Tenere earlier this year in Charlotte.

Not a whole lot of new to report other than the fact one of the S10's had a touring screen with wind deflectors and yes there was definate improvement over the stock screen. For me it was good enough to go ahead and order. I also really got into the pulse of this engine, I love the thumper sound(yeah, yeah it's a KLR thing). Nit pick time, there are only two things that bug me. The first is the sidestand, for the life of me I can't get it down without looking :'(. The other is the plastic rear rack, yikes.

As for an overall ride summary I have to borrow fromGraham who summed it up best in two words, "no drama".

BTW spoke with the area sales rep, could only say what we all know already, all bike will be at the dealers before the end of the August. When I asked him when deliveries might begin he offered no dates. He went on to say that Yamaha is working very hard to exceed customer expectations when it comes to delivery times. :) I asked him how many units they have sold, he replied, "I can' tgive you a number but we are very pleased."

Maybe I did not understand, but you said you ordered the bike after you rode it today. Is that correct? I thought all orders were done..

The sales rep said it looked like the accessories manufacturing has resumed along with other production. He said Yamaha was woorking overtime to fill orders.

Just got back home from a week in the Romney area camping and riding my FJR. Fantastic week rain and all. Visited with some old friends and met some new ones!

Rode the S10 twice Fri, 1-up in the morning and 2-up in the afternoon. Got the final thumbs up from the boss to part with "her" FJR...whoohooo

Also got a comparo from a local friend of mine that is a GSA rider just after he rode the S10 on Fri afternoon. He nitpicked something about heat on the left (I never noticed it and me and spkldoe were along on the other Tenere at the same time he rode). Also mentioned no gear indicator and no handlebar mounted thumb toggle to go thru the info on the digital display...whoopee. However he also said that if his GSA ever developed issues, the Tenere was now a serious contender; which in Alan speak means he liked it 8)

None of the YAMAHA's I rode on the weekend had gear indicators. It was tough but I managed.

I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a gear indicator til you guys starting talking out it. I've never seen one in my 30+ years of riding, but I somehow managed. After a short time getting to know each bike that I've owned, I could tell what gear I was in just by comparing rpm to speed.

Must admit I almost never know what gear I'm in. And I never care 100% of the time.

Spkldoe reports wind troubles not an issue. But as you know, it was a quick look situation. Time will tell what mods she will request for weather protection.

She has been very positive about pillion comfort on the S10 after both demo rides (Roanoke & Romney). I am still directed to equip with a backrest of some description from day one.

Please forgive my pal, for he has imbibed heavily from the KoolAid dispenser. ;) Even he admitted that it was just a luxury ::) to which he has become accustomed over time and he has ridden practically everything on wheels at one time or another.
