Riding off Center stand?

I've got a mate who does it all the time on hid GSA, sits there with the engine running and just before we go he pops it into first rocks forward and off he goes.

It looks cool enough but the bike comes down with quite a bit of force but no worse than dropping off a kerb.

I do it anytime I need to use my center stand. I have lowering blocks and a Trex adjustable center stand though, so it's not like I drop too far. Just a forward rock and I'm off.

I can and do quite often. It doesn't put any extra stress on anything. My bike has raising links so drop off the centerstand is less.

I have the same setup as silver bullet (raising links) and regularly ride off from the center stand. Doesn’t seem to harm anything and is more convenient than lowering it off the center stand onto the side stand, then climbing on the bike and riding off.

Ride off my stand all the time. My wheels have been known to leave the ground too.

No not really, too much effort to put fatty on it, especially when loaded. BUT I do shut it off often with the side stand.
Way cooler if your into that looking cool shit, roll in, drop side stand and get off all in one motion. Expect to drop the bike a few times before you get it right LOL. speeking from experience haha

I spoke to my mate to find out why he does it, he needs to use the foot peg to get on the bike (he's not tall) and he's concerned about the stress on the side stand as he's on the big side!

He must have had a Beemer at one time. It's the only bike that I've ever had that the side stand snapped in half.

Have friend that’s way over 300 pounds, he bent his Goldwing side stand because he parked on a pretty steep slope and used the foot peg for mounting but it just bent it didn’t break. We were out in Colorado at the time so I posted about it and a fellow that lived nearby saw it and brought over a spare side stand that he happened to have.

As far as riding off the center stand I’ve never tried that it’s pretty easy for me to push the Goldwing off the center stand while sitting on the seat but with the Tenere I don’t think my legs would be long enough so I just push it off before mounting. I do usually use the left foot peg to make mounting easier and it’s never caused any problems.

The very few times I manage to put my bike on central stand I do ride off straight away as a "gift" to my efforts!!!
