Seeing if there is any suggestion on good light weight protective riding boots, Due to injuries to my hip I can no longer reach the outside of my foo/leg so wearing the good old buckle ups are no longer an option for me

I prefer to use BMW air boots but not in wet conditions, i do carry boot covers just in case.
If expecting rain or cold I wear BMW Goretex boots.
Both use zippers and Velcro to close, I have never experienced a leaking BMW Goretex boot and I have ridden in a LOT of rain with them.

I like those boots but I wouldn't be able to reach the zipper on my left foot

I have a number of boots but for general duty I like my Forma Terra Evo Low boots. Very comfortable, good protection, easy on and off and can walk in them all day long.
I had a pair of those and loved them, but due to too many crashes I have an artificial hip and I can't reach the outside of my left foot so I can't clip them down, I need to find something that has a zipper on the inside, everything I have found have bad reviews and made of cheap plastic

Ok so then I also have some Alpine Stars Andes V 2 I think. Velcro on the side, good protection but not the best for walking around in.
Yeah I'm trolling the net looking at them, I really want the Forma Terra Evo Low boots because I like those the best, but it really is a struggle for me to get them on and off...But I only have to that twice a day so I'm learning towards the struggle. I was also looking at Icon Elsinore 2 but people are saying the plastic on the buckle break pretty quickly

Just got a pair of Klim adv gtx boots. Much more protection than my Daytona Voltex touring boots and cheaper too. But they are pretty stiff to walk in and the toe box is so large I had to adjust the gear change linkage. Very well made and I like the BOA closure

I purchased Gaerne "balance oil " , comfortable , look good , but zero impact protection ... water proof and made of leather for abrasion protection . you can walk all day . almost the same as a high end sneaker... while I'm here , my Sidi crossfires have maximum protection , but you walk like Frankenstein .... need something in between . suggestions please.

I'm kind of screwed when it comes to the boot dept. Being that I can't reach the outside of my left leg I am stuck with wearing a pair of steel toed lace up work boots. The Keens I have are pretty thick 8" high and have a rubber covered toe, and are extremely comfortable and waterproof and have the solid rubber sole like vibram

I wear work boots when I commute as I'm not changing boots when I get to work. actually have more protection than the balanced oil boots . nothing wrong with good work boots for most riding . dedicated M/C boots can and do offer better protection especially upper ankle and leg if it has side armor. more protection less able to walk comfortably. option would be to carry some walking shoes if needed. and if camping I have a pair for camp ground use.

I’ve been delighted with my Gaerne Dakar boots. I got the brown ones and had to go up about a half size from what the conversion between US and Euro sizing indicated.

I have worn Alpinestars Web Goretex leather boots for over twenty years now. They have never leaked and I am currently on my fourth pair. The first pair were totaled out with a deer/motorcycle collision…….no injury to my feet! They Velcro and zip from the inside. I like them because they are walkable plus made of leather which I find to be more comfortable when hot or cold.

I ended up going with the Icon stormhawks they have the Boa system which will make it easy on me since I can't reach the buckles on my left foot due to a artificial hip

Dmadman, I had the same issue with a hip had it replace, and 7 weeks later I took off on a motorcycle to Alaska for over 9000 miles.
best thing I ever did was have it replaced .
hope you get better

I had mine resurfaced back in 2005 when I was 40 so I just have a bunch of titanium that replace the femur end and hip socket, but I never got my limberness back I even have a hard time tying my left shoe. I think this Boa system should be a god send for me, If I like them I will look into the Kilms for off roading the Icons are basically road boots
