Has anyone in the UK received an e-mail invite asking them to participate in the annual "Ride Magazine Survey" to give feed back on there S10?? Particulary people who have completed the survey previously??
According to online media relating to the Triumph Exploder, Ride Magazine have been contacting owners inviting them to give feed back on their Exploders. For those that arnt aware this is the sister publication(monthly) to MCN (Motor Cycle News) & we all know how anti S10 they are. If you look at the MPG page they dont even rate the S10 in the list of bikes that have managed better than 39 mpg. I can only assume they couldnt be bothered to test the S10 OR they got less than 39 mpg, any owner of an S10 will know that if they did declare an average of less than 39 mpg that would be complete Bollocks.

Just found this link on face book https://www.facebook.com/MotorcycleNews/posts/206554839440846

How about we tell them this year how good the Super Tenere is!!

It's amazing what shite the bike press will print ! I once averaged 74mpg while running the bike in, not a lot of fun mind but I thought I'd see what it could do being really gentle with the throttle.

Two things, why are you bothered what these muppets think? Who cares, and the less people know about a good bike the better, let the uneducated ride other stuff.
Secondly, the worst I got on the S10 was a run from the UK to Zurich, running 140-145kph and only stopping for fuel and ahem, leg stretch. That was about 44mpg. I personally think some people are predisposed to not liking a brand/product even without fully testing said product.

Agreed, I think many a 'test' is composed before the bikes have even been ridden. If it's not a sportsbike it's crap anyway...

Yaw do know that WE are the strange lot, right?

The minority.
The fringe.

What's amazing is that there is a motorcycle manufacturer that actually wanted to build THE bike that would bullseye such a crowd. Small crowd that it is.

I got mine.

mmm, well if thats what you think Dogdaze I could turn your comments round & ask you why are YOU bothered in what I think? You must have some thoughts or you wouldnt have posted it. I take note of your comments & respect your thoughts. I do detect a hint of hipocrosy though. Happy new year Dogdaze

It was not a slight on you, and took info from what you wrote. I was merely pointing out that we ride these because we don't care what everyone else rides and so should not be bothered what comments are expressed by the media. And I was not bothered by what you think, but as you posted it for all to read I assume I was included?

Hi 2112, it will be 4 weeks next Wednesday! I am walking (of a fashion) left hip seems to exhibit "impact" pain after long walks, right hip is better. Physio is good, if nothing else but to re-assure me that I can do things that I would otherwise shy away from. Back to the gym last week, upper body mostly, driving is ok too.
I hope you are well and the New Year brings you many good riding days. Please drop me a line if you are anywhere near here anytime, you are welcome to come round for a drink / food (bbq)
and would be good to put a face to a name.....

Of course you was included Dogdaze, none intended & none taken. Hope yer Hips are sorted ASAP. As far as the bikes are concerned I`m chuffed to feckin bits with it & only wish I had pursued more test rides after being arsed about, I might not have got lumbered with an Exploder in the first place then.

If Tex owners are happy with theirs then good luck to em, I just know I`m well rid of my Tex & my Tiger sport, they were both a complete & utter feckin disaster. I had two years of shite with em, I wont be rushing in to repeating that.

Sure i read a article in Ride about the readers survey last year and the S10 came 2nd overall to the Tex when everything was taken into account, brakes, engine, comfort, mpg, reliability etc

Not sure what to say really other than after 2 years and lots if miles I reckon this is the first bike I've owned that I can imagine keeping for many years. Sure, its not as exciting as my old Blackbird or as good looking as my old Ducati but I wouldnt give up the S10 to go back to any of those particularly with my current type of riding.

Myself and Littledave are passing by on the 21st of June (staying at Pforzheim and then on to Lake Como for two nights and then two nights in Nauders, Austria) so we'll probably have a little excursion into Lichtenstein, fancy a coffee and a run up the Splugen Pass ? On the way back we'll be passing through Switzerland on the 25th if you can't make the 21st. It would be good to catch up and you really won't believe that Littledave used to be an ugly baby... As long as they keep selling enough Tens to continue making em I'm happy it's not perhaps got the 'appeal' thats created by the media. For me seeing another on the road is quite special being fairly rare that they are. Let the sheep follow... We don't have to tell em our secret! ;)

Sad truth is if they don't sell they don't produce then we are SOL down the road.
I figure this will be my last bike for the long haul unless I hit 150k miles Lol!!
Lots of complements are great but when asked I turn into an instant salesman trying to sell this model to interested parties.
I want this bike to be around and improved. it's affordable and dependable Period.

If buying a new bike right now I may have gone for the Tracer, but when I bought the S10 I did a lot of two-up so wanted the extra low down grunt and room for two.

Although my requirements are now slightly different I still think I will keep it, maybe add to the stable, but I think I would regret selling / trading it, and although other bikes do sometimes catch my eye (like the Tracer) as soon as I think about how I ride and where I ride I realize they are not likely to really make me any happier than I am now.

If a brand new S10 hadn't come up at a bargain price I'd probably be on a Versys 1000 now. I'm glad I've got the S10 and even though I think its a keeper, that's what I always think, and then after a couple of years I start thinking the grass is greener elsewhere.

Looking at the competition, there's nothing I'd swap it for right now.

I'm surprised Yamaha haven't maximised the model and done another bike out of the basic set up. For example a TDM1200 with 17" wheels and basic suspension would probably sell well and cost very little to develop and make a cracking commuter. Yamaha would then have a lot of bikes in a similar sector of the market however.
