Thank you all. I can be a man of extremes, and sometimes miss the bigger picture, receiving your council and advise has been helpful. I had to throw out the rule book in order to keep my wife and I safe for an entire year. That sort of thing changes you.
I was working for Carmax. Doing well. My wife and I were not blessed with kids. We tried. I could drive any car I desired. My house was paid for. In order to keep my credit alive, I got a motorcycle, a Harley Road King Custom. Well some times in life we run into evil. My neighbor 4 doors down coveted what I had, nice house, $90,000 cars, new Harley, and a pretty wife.
Not that I care, but life had not been kind to this guy. He was a school teacher and had become a cliché. Apparently drinking one night in one of Baltimore’s many bars he got into a fight. A club or pipe had been used on him. Literally a steel plate in his head. I think it just further compounded his problems. I think he was already mentally ill and an alcoholic.
One night at 2 in the morning he kicked our door in was coming up the stairs to kill us. My dog held his ground long enough for me to get my pants on and together we chased him out of the house. I would get calls at work from my wife. She could not get out of the car. He would point his beater Ford Ranger at her. Revving the engine. I would send her shopping (good distraction for an upset woman) and get my ass home. Now this went on for a year. The incedents varied but theme was consistent And he was escalating. While I was trying to figure out how to deal with this (Month One), my wife was put on a Grand Jury. She was on it for a year! Carmax paid her. That’s were we meet. They did some big stuff. Drug crews and even indicted the mayor. So we were stuck like chuck.
My work was getting tired of the distractions. Furthermore they were trying to weed out the dinosaurs. When I joined Carmax, The managers were betting on when the company would go under. The stock fell to .98 a share. I had played a part on turning the corner, and changed an entire industry. During this time I had purchased a boatload of stock. So I a rich fuck, some one is trying to kill my wife, work wants me gone. Some of what I dI’d was not legal but it was necessary. I will not elaborate here perhaps in person if we ever have a rally. With that said I made some drastic unilateral decision.
I quit my job, sold my stock, (I was liquid now) Long story short I baby sat my wife full time for a year. I went to Crime scenes, corner inquests and drove her to and from the court hose. I also used the time to help Usher my parents out of this world. They were in the messy part of the field. My 4 other siblings had families of their own, complete with kids. They did not have the time or money. On the last day of jury duty I picked my wife up in a uhaul. And came to NC. I had not told her or another living soul what I was doing. As I said I am man of extremes. If we have a rally and you are interested I will tell you whole story.
This sort of thing changes you. Whenever a white Ford ranger passes by the hair on my neck stands up. After we got our new house we wanted to show it off. Had a party. My guests stayed too late and drank and ate too much. But every one had a good time. After the last guest left at 3 am, I locked the house up, then went and check every room every closet even the attic to make sure the house was secure. I hope you never encounter this sort of evil but believe me it’s out there.
