Maybe!! Or..........................you could all pack your panniers and ride out this way and ride up the Umbriel Pass and down the Stelvio to a nice little town called Bormio. I'm only 3hrs from the Stelvio ::004::

Yep, to start just be happy to see a meet over here come good! Already thinking of all the S10 parts I can half inch when ya all not looking...Somerset said:I liked Bormio, went there earlier this year when I did the Stelvio on the TEX. Not sure I can afford it again for next year!
Rubbish idea, stelvio is the best idea yet.stutrump said:How about the Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham. Thats pretty central!
I'd probs be up for it if any local stuff is put forward. If I'm free, I like to play... I'm from the midlands n without trying to be bias, this area 'might' be the best place to start a national meet for folk coming from north n south n the sides! Mind I think I said previously, if theres an area where theres a majority of owners than maybe this would suit best? Plenty a time to bash heads anyhows... More thoughts expressed up here n hopefully the right collective choice will shine soon enough...XTDelZ said:How about local(ish) meets to start with, ie North, Central & South. This would make it easier on the guys from Scotland and Cornwall? Better still, make the meets a weekender so that you can stop over on Friday/Saturday with a decent 'ride out' on the saturday (100-200mls) of the area you are staying led by a local volunteer who knows the good roads? Obviously all the guys would be welcome to any weekender but they would be able to pick and choose so long as they happened on different days.
The members on the FJ/FJR Forum have this system and it works brilliantly. They also use the second man drop system on their ride outs which works no problem and keeps everyone on track enabling everyone to ride at their own pace.
Just a thought.
If were including Europe, and why not, how about somwhere more central like the Eastern side of France in the Vosges Alsace. There are some fantastic roads tucker away there that most go steaming by on the way to Austria, Italy or the Frnch/Swiss Alps. The altitude is lower whisk means the passes/Cols like Col Du Donon & Schlucht will be open earlier or later in the year. Its pointless having a meet in the middle of the touring season if you want a good turn out as most peole will be committed to there summer hols, possibly with friends who dont ride an S10 & therefore wont be interested. September would be good, its also possible to do a ride out for a day into the black forest from the Alsace / Vosges, Switzerland or the Doubs going South, Massif Central going West or the Ardennes going North.RandG said:Rubbish idea, stelvio is the best idea yet.
Whilst I agree about the Stelvio Pass, there are many great roads on the way, Fluela Pass (27) , then through the Swiss National Forest to Mustair, the Umbriel Pass and join the Stelvio.........., in fact, you could end up doing pass's all the way from Davos back to Zurich (Gotthard closes early though).Rasher said:The Stelvio is a long way to go for a very average pass, Much better stuff in the Bourg St Maurice area of the French Alps, or around Andermatt in Switzerland, both of which are a day less riding to reach, however...
Vosges / Ardennes is much easier as can be done as a long weekend and people could tack on a longer trip by meeting up on their way too / from the Alps, Black Forest or Luxembourg, but....
With so few UK Tenere's getting a fair turn out in the centre of England will be hard enough - and if you want to see Tenere's abroad jst go there, I see loads whenever I go touring, had 3 at one Hotel last year.
I whole heartedly agree with you Bob, that was the original intent at the start of this thread. As you say if its UK based over a weekend then theres probably a better chance of a good turn out due the reduced investment in time required. I suggested, i think, its been some time ago now, to meet within the peaks or north/central wales as these places are fairly centrally located as to allow people a chance from the North & South.tenbob said:Nice that going overseas again would be, I personally think to get the largest turnout possible of Tenere's for a 'first UK meet', might be better to stay on UK soil... Unfortunately, I for one couldn't do an abroad trip next year, but absolutely no probs if the majority think they sooner could n would. ::008:: Assuming Uk based.., time wise, September would be fine by me... I reckon it would perhaps suit the furthest away if it was a couple of days meet too? Just using a Saturday n Sunday might help with holidays n commitments and if anyone wants to stay over for shorter/longer that would be up to them. Regarding location, looking back through the thread and where ya all seem to live, the Midlands seems to be sensible?, with maybe the Peak District in mind? Personally tho, my choice would be a run to Wales or if it were Midlands based, the Peaks? Not well travelled locally tho (doh! ), so there might be somert more suited in this region others know.

My Point exactly guys, we have people on the south coast & other in the north of England Plus Scotland. To give some of those spread out at the extremes it seems reasonable to have a meet in a central (ish) area so as to give these a fair chance of an initial meet, after that then yeah lets look at further afield, scotland,Northumbria, the Lakes, Wales, South West or Europe.Tyke said:I'm on the outskirts of Ulverston
Agreed, we all have other commitments as well as our common biking activities, and therefore it isn't always possible to find the necessary time to attend a meet which is a long(ish) journey away.ExTriumphExp said:My Point exactly guys, we have people on the south coast & other in the north of England Plus Scotland.
