The change is shock/spring effect isn't dramatic, but is unavoidable. :) I've made more than a few sets of raising and lowering links, so I'm pretty familiar with them. :) I'll machine up a few sets. I offer lifetime exchange on links I make. I'll order up the material tomorrow. Should have a few sets next week.

Excellent, I assume they will be as strong, or stronger than OEM :)

Let me know how much it would be to post a set of these and the shock adjuster to the UK.

If any other UK Tenere owners fancy a set let me know, it may be cheaper to ship a few sets over and then post again within the UK.

Yes, they will be as strong on stronger. That's how I make them. :) I got a kick out of the guy making the Strom links out of 6061, and then saying he was sure they were strong enough. Some guy was out in the middle of nowhere and had them fail. :(
I've never had a set fail, and lots of them out there.
Ship to UK for the small flat rate box is $16.95, could likely get 4 sets in there, maybe more.

ETA: I realize some here don't know my history. I'm a former aerospace QC manager. Was certified heat treat inspector, hardness test, etc, etc, etc. Been a machinist full time or for fun 36 years now - started out pushing a broom and a file. :)

Here's a bump for a great vendor. He may new to the Tenere world, but in the land of KLRs....he's a king! ::008:: ::003::

If I weren't saving up for an Ohlins I'd be all over this - nice looking piece!

My OEM plastic one stripped clean nearly two years ago. I didn't bother replacing it as I use it so infrequently and it's nothing that an adjustable wrench can't handle. This item looks great but at $45+ to ship to Oz, I'll think i'll just let apathy reign.

Shipping to Oz is $16.95, that's the international priority mail small flat rate box. I ship to Oz all the time. I also reduce shipping charges if the customer selects the wrong shipping option. I can get several in the box, so if you have friends needing them, it's easy to save some cash. :)

Oh yeah, thanks Eagle Mike!! Just ordered mine today. Stripped the f*&^ing knob just as I was leaving for a fully loaded trip to Big Bend Park. Am now using a 4" crescent wrench to adjust preload. I also got the "we have to replace the whole shock assembly AND give you a new plastic knob" story from the local Yammie guy. So glad this forum exists and I will support it once my PayPal is fixed. Yesterday I installed the rear shock preload adjuster knob. all went well. Put towels down, removed the bolt, slid the OEM knob back with my hand under it, the ball bearings dropped into my hand... couple dabs of dielectric grease on the springs, set the ball bearings on the springs, grabbed the new knob, tilted it to capture the rearward ball bearing, while sliding it downward I captured the front ball bearing, slid the know on, blue loctite on the new bolt, tightened and snugged the bolt, good to go, adjusting the preload was sticky but I added six full turns, did not ride the Tenere.

Today I was going to experiment with preload. Got the adjuster to turn 1/2 + turn though was very difficult. Got the adjuster to return 1/2 - turn. Now cannot get the adjuster to turn. Took the Tenere off the centerstand and bounced the rear suspension. Put it back on the centerstand. Still can't adjust the preload adjuster. Can't remove the knob.

Can't believe it is the Eagle Mfg problem. Any ideas what the problem is?

Tim, did you replace the knob just because you wanted to, or did the original fail?
You say that adjusting the preload after you put the knob on was sticky.

The first 2 things that come to mind are:

The gear mechanism is the problem.
or
You may have not captured the detent balls like you thought and it's jammed between the knob and the body.

Take the knob back off and if it's not the ball, try and turn the adjuster shaft with a small crescent wrench on the flats.

Thanks Carl.

The original knob was always a bit difficult to adjust and I thought it would be nice to use the better Eagle knob.

The Eagle knob went on smoothly and it adjusted easily for the first time. After that it would stick. Now it won't adjust and I can't get it off the shaft.

Thinking I might have to remove the shock to knob off. Not sure what I can use to remove the knob.

Explain to your wife that it is broken/unsafe, and replace it with an Ohlins.

Seriously, I hope you get it sorted out.
No explanation necessary, no wife. An Ohlins is not out of the question and I have been wanting one. But I still need to repair this shock.

Are there any current deals on Ohlins?
