And http://www.xplorermoto.com/ will start taking orders tomorrow... Odysseys only at first, 2 versions of Safaris (i.e. bigger and smaller than the Odyssey) come later.

Note that in order to get them so narrow, the passenger grab rails will be deleted... if this is important to you Jesse plans to make billet replacements later - at extra cost obviously and AFAIK no schedule yet.

Yes sir and 75.00 shipping on top of that. I spoke with Rick at Xploremoto today nice guy and loves to talk bikes. He also told me that Jesse remade the racks to make them easier to adjust the cases forward and aft. Unfortunately this price tag puts me out of the running for Jesse's. I do like them but I will go with the Pelicans now hopefully the racks for them are symmetrical if not I can do like Rod suggested and mount different size cases on the bike.

Probably going to do the Jesse's but cost is always an object. Hoping some other ideas continue to come up here. Bags are important to me, and had a good experience with Jesse's on a previous GS, just not sure I will buy bags before the Tenere gets here.

Take a look at Micatech, they are great bags. Compatable to jesse's, less money, made in the USA, outstanding customer service.

Thanks! I remember reading a bit on the Micatechs when the first hit the market but didn't keep up with them after. I will certainly give them a look over as one of my options.

I am back now and have read your replys. Thanks to those who have made suggestions regarding a refrigerated top box, and I have contacted one of the suppliers to see if they are interested in taking on this challenge. Existing. These are very capable coolers / refrigerators but don't meet my requirments, they are made for use in automobiles and are not tough enought for MC use and cannot be locked down securly. I am still optimistic I will find or designe / build, a sutiable unit. Hell there may be a business here.
The form is showing an interst in the C. Pelican panniers. I have looked into the mounting systems available and agree untill the S10 is here it is difficult to select a system to mount the Pelicans. My personal thoughts have been around same size panniers, with a third box mounted in the space between the right hand pannier and the MC frame, balancing the look and providing additional storage for tools or emergency medical kit or extra fuel or whatever works best. For the supporting frame I am thinking custom build with incoporated skid bar(s) simmilar to a Harly rear system. Just a thought.

Salty. S Tenere on order

Whew, just read thru the various pannier threads here. I wasn't planning on going this route yet, but with the bike due in August and the fact I'm on vacation furlough for the month of September, means I hope to spend some quality time with the ST. Narrowed my choices down to the Caribou vs. the Micatech.

I'll probably post a few questions in the Micatech thread. I'm liking the look and quality of these, and the few extra $$$'s won't really matter after a few years of use.

A lot of options TierHawg for panniers. I'm still partial to the Givi line of bags and have had them on many bikes over the years. Went with the Trekkers for my SuperT and I think they will work out great.

Good Luck!!!

I spoke with Roger at Caribou and asked a lot of questions and have decided to go with the 35 liter Pelican 1550 side load cases and the Hepco Becker Lock-It Racks. For the money $811.00 + $40.00 shipping in the states these are the best choice for me. Life time warranty the racks are made in Germany and everything is keyed the same. You can bolt everything right up with no hassles. http://cariboucases.com/store/?name=Catalog&mode=i&item=000358

The Caribou's are good, solid panniers. The racks are well designed, strong, and did the job for me with my DL 1000. They're tough, waterproof cases, no doubt about it. Good gear, well fitted and will serve anyone, in an exemplary fashion, involved in "adventure riding".

I just ordered the Micatech V2 bags with roofracks and one large liner bag. I got black for my raven bike. I didn't like them too much at first but they grew on me. And Sue let me have the previous discount so that paid for the roofracks, which was really kind of them. Oh, I did get the 37L left and 45L right (8" and 10").

I'll likely order the Jesse Odyssey system, but I'll hold off until I can see the cases on the bike a little better. It's hard to determine if I like them or not from that single available photo on their website. It's at a really odd angle. It would be great if Jesse or Xplorermoto could get a shot of the bike with the panniers on it from the side and rear.

Yeah, it's odd that they didn't get more photos, knowing they were going to have to give the bike back and wouldn't get a chance for more until the customer bikes arrived. I can only guess that because these cases were pretty rough (the result of 2 days prototyping), they didn't want to put pics out of bags that didn't look well-finished.

I ordered them anyway - I had Odysseys on my Wee Strom so know basically what I am getting, and it's obvious from that one pic that they are very closely fitted to the bike, and I can't see any other options that are even close (to being as close!). Would have been nice to have a shot from the back, but they say these bags at 35.5", are no wider than the OEM bags (but OEM's don't hold very much). Interesting the Touratech bags are 38" wide on the S10 (and $300 more than Jesses).

One of my concerns about ordering the Jesses was that, given that they only had the bike for 2 days, would there possibly be problems with fitment? I put this question to Rick at xplorermoto, he said they'd actually shipped some bags and racks to the UK to be fitted to bikes there, so any small tweaks should be sorted by the time the bags are built and shipped to me.

Here's a shot from the rear of the new Jesse setup for the 800 Tiger - the S10 version is 1.5" narrower than this, for the same capacity.

And here's the Touratechs on Nick Sander's bike - to me those bags look waaaayyyy out there, and I want to avoid that.

I was all over the place on which panniers to get...

Then one evening, while I was ordering Touratech goodies from their web site (and holding my credit card in my left hand while the right hand was helping me with another beer), I ordered the Zega Pro 38L + 45L panniers + 38L top case (it's only $,$$$)!

Any how, after getting all the goodies in my office, I am very pleased with the way they look!

Anyhow, just thought I would doodle another purchase!

Have a good weekend,

Aggie85
