Howdy, boys. I've been gone a while. Couple of you noticed, most didn't .... including my wife. I see there are about 8,000 messages for me. I'm really sorry for not getting back. I haven't checked in for quite a while. We just recently moved about 140 miles UP the Alaska Highway. We are caretaking some property at the southern tip of Kluane Lake, just beyond a little ghost town called Silver City, Yukon. So I don't live in Whitehorse anymore. I wish I could accommodate all of you passing through, and I surely would, but my friend Mark is house sitting for now and I don't want to ask him to do that.
If you've a mind to, and you're heading to Alaska via the Alaska Highway, when you turn at Haines Junction toward Alaska, at about km 57 or so beyond the intersection, there is a rest stop on the right ... Kluane Lake Rest Stop. Less than a km farther on (0.8 km) there is a gravel road to the right. Follow that road (don't turn) right through the old ghost town and the road dead ends at our place. As it's not our property, I may or may not be able to offer you a campsite, but I can sure offer you a shower and a beer and a kind word,
Hope to see the whole damn bunch of you at some point. Oh, and ... uh ..... don't get any dust on my new GoldWing. Hey, I'm 72. Gimme a break.
Let's be careful out there. R
