I imagine that even and correct torque on all those cover bolts is very important. The cover isn't very thick material and I wonder if uneven or incorrect torque, too high or too low, could cause it to distort slightly?
Lay the bike on its side, sand around the glass, and mold up some QuickSteel around the leak. Then you will not have to stress about it. I will tell you it can end up being a bigger issue with losing your grip on the pegs and loss of your rear brake from the oil being blown into the rotor/caliper/pads.
No matter what any member says here, do not trust the low oil warning light. I never ever trust just the oil light on any motor vehicle. By the time you notice it you are going to chance having engine damage. Trust the sight glass or dipstick only.

And the comments are specific to the Super Tenere, not generic comments from "any vehicle", 99% of which are not dry sump vehicles with low oil level light, but wet sump vehicles with low oil pressure lights. There is a huge difference. Perhaps when you have over 100k miles of Super Ten riding under your butt, you'll have a clearer insight into this machine.

I read the post his sight glass is leaking. Low oil light or low oil pressure light makes no difference. You don't have to have big miles on this bike to understand the how it works. The Super Tenere uses oil to lubricate like any other engine. When oil leaks in front of the foot peg and rear brake it can make a mess.
Many of us riders have experience with emergency repairs to prevent oil loss on a variety of machines instead of just a specific one. The Super Tenere is no different than any other bike with regards to engine damage due to loss of oil.

Its probably replaceable the one on my honda was. I actually tried to remove it from a spare engine case i had and had no luck granted i did not try super hard. I imagine youll break it getting it out. The honda just had a rubber gasket integrated with it. I imagine the tenere is the exact same. If its just weeping id leave it personally. Not by my bike right now but i think its in the case and not the pan which is unfortunate.
