New filter every oil change for me. Buy them online ahead of time to save money.
Pretty sure that EricV is no longer part of this forum.Who uses and engine oil flush prior to doing the full filter/oil change ? I've not found mention in the 25 pages just read. Skidoo mentioned recently he's now doing this as a regular step.
Seems to have worked in his GTR14 and the S10s thus far.
EricV do you have any info?
Also EricV that STP zinc product. Do you have an item description for that product please? I may have missed its code or part number.
Cheers

Just use a good quality synthetic and keep up with changes. The synthetic will help clean out any old crap and regular changes keep it out. Run some Seafoam, Yamaha Ring-free or similar fuel treatment on a regular basis and you should be more than fine. Stay away from engine flushes, though. Only a lighter wallet and perhaps heartache will result.Who uses and engine oil flush prior to doing the full filter/oil change ? I've not found mention in the 25 pages just read. At 400,000 miles I would call that high milage and would do a flush but otherwise even if you go over the recommended interval its not needed. At about 400,000 miles I did a Marvel Mystery oil flush on my Goldwing, I could hardly believe how much cleaner the engine oil seemed to stay for a long time and the oil consumption also went down quite a bit, the Goldwing turned 600,000 miles last week and still runs like new.

An amazing engine stock! At 400,000 miles I would call that high milage and would do a flush but otherwise even if you go over the recommended interval its not needed.
Though I'm a yamalube kinda guy, I don't mess with other brands. I use it in my 250hp 9,000rpm turbo sled so the 1200 S10 tractor motor will survive on just yamalube for many many miles.
There are no comparison between the S10 1200 motor and the Genesis 998 used in certain Yamaha powersport. The 998 is a work of art of precision components and exotic metals, while the S10 is nearly suitable for farm use LOL.
Yet Yamalube is used and nothing else.
FYI, the Yamaha 998 Genesis on a reflash makes 250hp and 198ft/lbs of torque. It is the most powerful powersport motor on the planet at the moment.
