Why so serious, son?
I've done three of these since I got my S10 (bought at 25k, has almost 50k now). I moved recently and I haven't yet unpacked my garage paperwork stuff, but I can give a recap.
The first two oil changes were with Bosch oil filters (pre-convex base plate) and Rotella-T synth. the first one was after roughly 4,000 miles. This is well under my typical streetbike oil change interval of 6,000, but I was about to do a long distance rally, and it just 'felt right' to change the oil as part of my pre-rally prep. Because...ok, for no reason at all. I did send it off though, and not surprisingly, the recommended interval was 6,000 miles. I can't remember the details, but all good. Then the second time was after just over 6,500 miles, and again all good. There was no recommended change interval increase or decrease, but the recommendation was that the oil was still well within its service life.
Ok so after that, I read some information about how the latest formulation of Rotella-T synth is sub-optimal for bikes. I didn't have the time or energy to properly research this, and coincidentally Cycle Gear had gallons of Castrol Actevo semi-synth oil on sale for $22/gallon, so I ran that. I changed it at about 6,500, and the report was the same deal as the previous one. No interval reco, but oil well within service life.
If I eventualy find the stuff when I finish unpacking I'll post up some scans.
