Hey everyone, finally joined up and wanted to say "hi"! My name's Erik and I've been researching the S10 since it was first rumored, and finally bought one October 2012. My local dealer had the 2012's that were left over sale priced at 11,999, so I couldn't pass it up. I grabbed a blue one for 12,350 OTD. I had a 2009 V-Strom 650 that was for sale at the time, and as luck would have it, sold it the next day. The Yamaha has been great! Easier to work on than the V-Strom was too. Nice to be back on a Yamaha, since the last one I owned was a 1974 MX250, about 25 years ago. Let's see if I can post up a couple pics without messing this up, haven't done this in a while...

Here's the day I picked it up.

And after I've messed with it a little.

Welcome from Sherwood, just south of you. We musta both moved on that same killer deal last October.... Got mine in black - 4,000 miles so far and really enjoying the bike. Added factory panniers, grips and fog lights. I've ridden it like a sport bike, and have yet to see any dirt other than gravel roads (too big for me to pick up alone, I figure.)

Enjoy your new ride!

Welcome, check out the PNW Super Tenere Owners over on Facebook. There are over 30 of us there already. Search the group. See you down the road.

Actually, I am in Sherwood, just like you! I just say "Portland" since most wouldn't know where Sherwood Oregon is exactly. Surprised I haven't seen you somewhere in town.

That would be great to meet up and ride with some of the PDX area people. I know one Tenere owner right now, a friend I used to work with who lives in north Portland. He travels a lot with his new job and is rarely available to ride. The other guys I know who ride are all on Harleys, and ride a little slow for my taste. (Not that I ride that fast).

I saw what I thought was a couple of XT1200's cruising West on Wllsonville road awhile back; I was headed East. Could that have been you?

Either way, perhaps we should ALL meet up and talk about how we like our bikes!

I've been told I plan good routes... got one in mind for us Portland based ST owners already! Meet in Sherwood, ride Meadowlake road out of Carlton over the coast range (just a few miles of gravel) to Pacific City and back. Might be a good way for some of us to band together and find some new riding partners!

Just say the word, and I'll plan a weekend day trip for the near future. Not sure how to best get the word out to Portland riders.. Anyone have advice?

P.S. If everyone in the Portland area would put their "pins up" on this site's map, we could all see proximity to one another and get a good head count....

If it was two blue ones you saw, there's a good chance it was us. I've been up in the area west of Carlton a few times. There are some great roads up there. Some nice dirt roads, that don't have that crappy deep gravel to fight the whole time. I'm potentially going to ride with the friend from Portland this weekend, although we haven't nailed anything down yet.

Re: Riding This Weekend

For sure, I'd be interested in riding with you sometime, Erik. Sunday would possibly work for me this weekend, as Saturday I plan to race my other bike in the Montinore Road Race in Forest Grove! :-\. My original passion is with bicycles, but a few years ago I returned to motorcycles with the purchase of a Ducati Monster.

Keep me in mind - let's ride!
