I placed a PHONE order with the No Mar people on 9/21/2011 because their website could not calculate shipping prices for my order. When I spoke with the customer rep, he confirmed all items were in stock. I fully expected the items to arrive by 9/29/11 so I could use them on a planned ride leaving 9/30/11. But today, 9/28/11, I get notified that items are backordered. WTF! I asked for an explanation and their Manager, Seth, tells me the system shows XXXXX amount in stock, orders are then filled, and we simply ran out. Double WTF. If that's how your system works FIX IT because its SUCKS. On top of that, it took them one week to figure it out that they were backordered, they charged my credit card at the time of the order....

I canceled the order. Just letting others know about their practices. Screw them, never again from this customer.

The fact that they charged your credit card prior to shipping was reason enough to never buy from them. In my opinion..

I think by law they can do an authorization, but not an actual charge. An actual charge prior to shipping is actually illegal I believe.

This sux, I guess ya cant go back now ? If you would have posted before this someone could have maybe thrown in there $.02 to help out.... I know the owner. I have there stuff myself. I could give you his number, he is a nice guy. I cant speak for him but he probably would have bent over backwards to get you what you needed... Probably would have thrown in a bunch of crap too for the mistake and problems........ If you ever go to look at the machine again, its a great unit.. I use it all the time.......

Hummmm

I have had nothing but great service from No-Mar. I have their Pro machine which is great. I use it not only for my bikes, but for my cars & trucks as well.

Must have caught them on a off day perhaps. I have met the owner and several of their employees at the IMS shows and they have always been great to deal with.

This is one of many reports of shee-I-TEA customer service I have heard from NoMar. I have also heard their quality control is...well...not in control. One guy bought the entire sha-bang and the base plate did not match up with the unit and the bolts would not go in. Called them , they gave him some weak-sauce excuse, needless to say, he ended up having to re-tap new holes.

I have wanted a NoMar for a while, but got the HF one. Bought the NoMar bar and polytips for the HF. Works just the same.

considering the NoMar is +$600 bones, you can get a decent pneumatic one for ~$900-$1k. So why not save yourself the hassle?

The trick is in the bar. So, save yourself some money, buy the HF one for ~$100, buy the NoMar bar for $100 and say FU NoMar

Guys, I'm the OP for this thread. For the record, this was the first time I tried to purchase something from No Mar. The items I was intending on purchasing were spoke weights, stick -on weights and some tire lube paste. Trivial stuff I concede, but I had planned on the spoke weights for this weekends dual sport ride on something other than the S10. It was a small order, but I needed 4 ounces of spoke weights to offset the weight of rim locks on one wheel. Trying to ride with a 4 oz. offset on any street section is freaking unbearable.

My only comments related to No Mar's customer service and I guess you could infer from my experience they have a crappy sales/inventory control system, which in today's day with online storefronts is what is truly unacceptable.

As far as their machines go, I can't comment. I'm a tire lever guy myself.

Had someone ask me about my set up.

I have the
- Harbour Freight tire mount with Harbour Frieght motorcycle mount kit
- Mojoblocks to protect from marring --> http://home.comcast.net/~prestondrake/mojoblocks.htm
- Knock off NoMar bar. But I think the NoMar is much better.

Works just the same. Can get the Wheel balancer from HF for $50. Wheel weights from Pep boys for $30 (enough to change everyone's tires here on the forum.....twice).

Nothing against NoMar, but like I said, their innovation is the bar.

hint - HEAT UP YOUR WHEELS PRIOR TO MOUNTING! At least for race tires, hard or soft carcass, it helps a bunch to get it on there

Try using the harbor freight changer (I have one btw - along with the No-Mar) on aluminum rims (especially painted rims like on my KTM and the ST) without damaging/scratching the rims by the rim clamps. Not impossible on the harbor freight unit, just very difficult. Especially if you are dealing with large, heavy-walled tires (think Gold-Wing & the like).

I finally got tired of trying to protect the rim from marring by the rim clamps, while being able to clamp the rim with enough force to prevent the rim from moving in the clamps that I bought the No-Mar and have never looked back. Forget about the HF bar on aluminum rims.

The HF works fine on steel rims.

I could have saved you the money. As mentioned in my post, $30 and you are good to go. Search Mojoblocks.

To be honest, I hated my HF when I first got it. then realized that I needed to heat the tire and get an appropriate bar. After that, I can flip'm with the best of'm

I have the Mojoblocks. The work OK on smaller rims. But on anything really tuff, the rims will slip.

And yes I do heat my tires, I just leave them outside in the 115F sun for a bit. Some tires (such as BT020's) I could put on by hand (on tools at all) when they were nice and hot from sitting outside.

I just got tired of the frustration and 'fiddleness' of the HF (which I still have) and said the heck with it, and bought the No-Mar. Yep it's a bit pricey. But it is very, very nice. No issues with it at all. Since I bought the Pro model I mount all my car/truck/trailer tires with it as well (I buy them from the TireRack) in addition to my street tires as well.

The down-side of the No-Mar is that when my buddies found out that I have have one, I now mount their tires, and their buddies tires, etc....probably changed a couple hundred in the two years that I have owned it...maybe I should have charged them $5/tire so I would have more than re-couped my outlay!

It's a little like going from a Wee to an S10, isn't it? My HF unit went in the recycle bin about 18 months after the no-mar came. I still have Mitch's mojolever, but the no-mar bar is just better. And just like the S10 still draws comments everywhere you go with it, the no-mar does get your friend's attention... just as you say. I still love my HF lift though, and my HF tile saw, and my HF SDS drill, and....

No-Mar is great!! never had any problems ordering but all my orders have been online. Product ships day of order and me being in Ms. I get it in two days. I have their classic mounter with all the accesories including the dirtbike tire mount kit with a balancer. They had issues early on with balancer cones that were machined from delrin, one email to them and I had replacements at no charge machined in steel. I will buy from them from now on.

I bought one of those pneumatic tire changers from GregSmith Equipment a few years ago. I had wanted one for years but thought I couldnt justify the price. I was wrong, it made tires changes so much easier. I cant believe I waited so long to buy it.
