New Tenere' handle bars

As many of you folks who lean toward off road riding already know the stock Tenere bar/seat/foot peg relationship sucks…to put it mildly. With an approximate 80mm sweep the stock bars might be ok for the street crowd but the bars do not fit well for off road. I was talking to the Fasst Company about a replacement bar & they told me that they are releasing a bar designed just for the S10. Their Tenere Bar will offer 62mm of sweep (straighter) & be about 116mm high. Fasst Company is very popular in the off road world as their bars incorporate “bumpers” to absorb shocks and helps to keep your wrist and forearm happy on rough rides. Yeah these bars are high dollar (around $350) but many riders swear by them as the best investment you can make for comfort. You still will probably need to invest in some Rox Risers to get the bars up and back but at least this is a start. I don’t know if anyone has developed a top triple clamp for this bike but if any bike needs one this one does.

You can check out their Fasst Company’s FB page here:

Now that's coincidental...

I've been trading e-mails with Cole at Fasst for about a month now. Has been interesting reading his messages about developing the product. In fact, I got some updates on the development today, though it wasn't really *good* news. He has been working with a magazine lately to do some of the final fitting, etc. From what I gather this magazine currently has *TWO* Super Tenere's in their test quiver, but when Cole went by Wednesday (07/11/12) the long-term test bike that was supposed to get the bars was off on a trip, with only the short-term test bike there. He was able to get some additional measurements he needs, but what he told me he really needs is a set of stock Tenere handlebars to take back to his shop to put on his handlebar jig. He was hopeful he could get that done soon, but as he says he is currently at the mercy of the magazine.

He has been very helpful and communicative throughout his development process, and has also given me some great ideas for curing other problems with mounting different bars on the Tenere. Seems like Cole and Fasst will be great folks to deal with.

I can't wait to see what their finished solution will be. ::017::

Sorry, I forgot the S10 is infallible. ::)

Yeah that's why companies like Rox Risers, Fasst & a dozen other companies are making products specially for the S10. Because it is so perfect for off road use right off the showroom floor. ::002::

There's a *TON* more aftermarket crap out there for Beemers and KTM's than there is for the Super Tenere... So what does that prove, wtfpete?

That those bikes are even *WORSE* than the Yamaha even though they cost a ton more? :D

Come on guys. What is the formula for a successful forum... Don't get personal... No name calling. And you insulted "troll" an upstanding member.

- take a break from posting
- share a good meal
- maybe a beer or...
- spend some personal time with a loved one
- ride your Tenere on a favorite road
- doesn't have to be in that order

OK I am out the door to the California State Fair for a cold beer, fair food, and a tram ride.

OK, let's see...

- take a break from posting - CHECK! I only post 1/5 as much as TC... ;)
- share a good meal - CHECK! Just did... Shrimp with lobster sauce, fried rice, and some spring rolls. :p
- maybe a beer, or... - Damn, can't drink any alcoholic beverages. Taking antibiotics for an infection so I'll have to pass. O:)
- spend some personal time with loved one - CHECK! Just did with my lovely lady, Vickie. ::008::
- ride your Tenere on a favorite road - CHECK! Just did that this afternoon, on a little 123-mile "Lap Around the Bay". ::26::

OK, TC... What's next? ::017::

But now, Troll... You and I both know there is a difference. Your name is Troll. That doesn't mean you are one! ;)

It's like my name is Pagan, but that doesn't mean I am one. Seriously! ::008::

OTOH, with wtfpete... well... we can all see what he is... down there... skulking... under that bridge. :D

Ok, wtfpete, set your bike up however you please but don't keep making the mistake that your personal setup is the best. And stop claiming that the bike is faulty because it's not set up perfectly for your candy ass. You've got about 5 minutes on the bike and we've had them for nearly a year. I've got about 10K miles on mine and I'm tired of hearing your whiney ass bitch about what is a great bike. So please, you f*%king tool, do what you gotta do, but STFU! ::010::

I've got about 7000 miles and I like the factory set up on road and off road . I'm 5' 9"
and handle bars are fine standing on pegs . My longest day has been 600 miles and I'm
happy with stock seat . My only complaint is traction control switching back to 1 every
time I turn off bike . Thats dangerous in the dirt . ::021::

I notice the inside of my thumbs (right next to the big bone at the base of the thumb) is sore after a day's riding. To alleviate this pain, I sometimes find myself late in the day riding with my thumbs resting on the switchgear rather than wrapped underneath the grip. This implies to me that the handlebars are not at quite the right angle, but I'm unclear what change to make. Anybody else had this problem and found a better bar bend?

Sounds like a bit more backwards bend, but you would have to try and guess how much I spose. Wouldn't be too much.
