Those are pretty cool. Price and looks I like the vstrom. That new KTM 1200 is going to a monster for sure. The new water cooled GS looks ok too. I bet the wet GS is heavier than the ST now. Honestly I've riden all of these bike in the current year model. As a whole package I still would stick with the Yamaha. Thanks for posting.

Yea I cant wait to see how that KTM does. Is it the same hight as the 990? I cant touch the ground on that. I wonder if bmw re-engineered
the final drive.

The KTM looks great.
The Beemer is - yawn - more of the same. Now with water. Press will wet their pants over it though.

But it's in the eye of the beholder, I guess, since I think the new VStrom is a fugly ripoff of the Beemer.

Heh, this is good! Other brands catching on that the adventure market is growing. Means good things are coming as the competition heats up. Biased as I am now, I may still have to consider selling in a couple of years. . . for a new ST, of course ::003::

Yeah, in the picture, the red color at the (IMHO) stupid beak, they look much the same - but I would be happy to see the DL1000 continue in life - with some needed upgrades like ABS, etc.

Gosh.... That V-Strom is uggggly.
It's a "concept" hence it is subject to change before production. Concept's are feelers for OEM's to guage public input. nothing more nothing less. I suspect it'll look very similar to the new Wee Strom 650 in the end. At least the front end will resemble current 650. We will have to wait and see.

That KTM concept sure looks sweet ::008::
Not a concept that is an actual production unit that will see the dealers floors in 2013.

BMW - It's just too expensive. Function vs. price, the S10 wins.

Strom - I don't know if they have completey re-designed the engine, but I have found the strom engine to be more sporty than ADV. I think it will be more compatition for the Triumph 12 than for the S10

KTM - Hmmmm pricey, and still chain drive. Might be a better tourer than the 990.

Bottom line is the S10 IMO still strikes the best balance between touring and off-pavement confidence. The list of new models creates no buyer remorse here. I wouldn't trade for any of them

Every adventure bike the USA sees is a good thing. There is nothing harder than pleasing everyone and more options help spread out the suite of capabilities. Really there is no direct competition with bikes in a category that can see anything from world record attempts, round the world travel, Pike's Peak records, paved touring, trails from hell....

The more ADV bikes they bring over the better for anyone who likes this type bike. I say keep'em coming no matter what they look like. Honestly I've never seen a "good looking" ADV bike ::025::

I certainly can't bad mouth any of the top ADV/tourers. They are all wonderful, capable machines. I just feel the S10 is still the very best fit for what I need a bike to do.

BMW - with all it's reliability issues like rear drive and electronics (not to mention can't bleed the brakes without a computer!!!!!) - I don't think so. KTM is a really hard core off roader with 21" front dual purpose tyre size that only has two suppliers in the UK and no road alternatives - not for me. The Suzuki VStrom will have the old SV1000 engine. I had one of those but the fuelling was so bad that it wouldn't hold a steady 70 mph without hunting up and down. It needed a Power Commander to fix it so it was at least rideable. Otherwise a nice engine though not much in the power stakes. Depends how well they've sorted it. There is a danger that it's a parts bin special. Ugly? Well..... OK - ugly!

Just rode my son's VStrom and I can't imagine how Suzy can update it enough to hunt with these newer dogs.

First, it's the Intermot. Lots of vaporware there.

Second, Really? A BMW and two chain drive bikes? Not even close. The first piece of shit can't even make it out of warranty w/o major repairs. The second two can't keep up for a single decent ride w/o needing chain lube/tension adjustments and more pavement than the Super Tenere.

The Super Ten is far from perfect, but at least it's not hampered by a chain or some dipshit German engineering.
