I received a reply from Mike. I also asked him about compatability with stock or other components.
If they produce the basket, it will be fully compatible with oem disc's and friction plates at a reasonable cost. His estimate is around 250.00, but most likely won't be available till spring if he even finds it worth doing.
Totally reasonable response......and if he does go forward with it, it gives us another option to resolve the issue for those that find it an "issue".

Thanks to Mike at Barnett for considering the work and Jaxon for looking into it.

Thanks Koinz,

Awesome, $250 bucks for a billet basket, wow ! The stock unit is about 500. I'll give mike a call and will continue the 'tech talk'.

After seeing the possiable price, if your interested make sure touch base with Mike @ Barnett's. ( first post )

Thanks guys

I don't have the vibe problem, but interested nonetheless. Have had good luck with Barnett springs in the past. Email sent to Mike.

hello there. I´m just curious. Are there just some specific bikes that have this vibeproblem. I have none of that. I have a year 12 speciment. Am I lucky or just unsensitive ? Same goes for the handles. Have some cramp in my right hand after a long day on Autobahn, but I think that will be solved with "autopilot" of some kind ig the problem is probably because of keeping the hand in more or less the same position for a day.

Some time ago someone said jokingly when the vibe "issues" were asked about and said yes Yamaha is working hard on the vibe issue, figuring how to add two cylinders to the Super Tenere and three to the 660 Tenere as a fix. :D
Hard to say if some bikes are worse than others, riders more sensitive or a combination of both. I can feel the clutch vibration under certain conditions such as lots of throttle under load, but it's a twin, and a twin built to be more like a big single so some vibration or pulsing should be considered normal. Also possible that eliminating a clutch vibration in one part of the RPM range under certain conditions will simply move it somewhere else. I'm more than happy with mine way it is. Is this Barnett the same company that was making clutch plates back in the 70s and 80s under that name?
I'm with you on the vibe "issue" Ron. My new clutch basket will come with cruise control, and many other updates! ::025:: ::025:: ::025:: ::021::

Yes Ron, it is. I think I'll wait until they figure out how to make better clutch PLATES than OEM before they think they can build a better BASKET than OEM. :)) :)) :))

I have to say that my S10 is very smooth, even for a twin. I just came off a BMW K1200RS and that bike was DEAD smooth at cruising speed, and the Tenere isn't much worse. This one hardly has an vibes at almost any RPM, in any gear. I can't imagine the same model bike being bad enough to look for fixes because of horrible vibration. I have ridden mine on 800 mile days, and never even gave vibes a thought.

Ah, I finally agree with Ron. However, if the newly designed OEM basket is plug and play, I will consider it. No way I would call a Barnett basket or plates an "upgrade," dependability-wise but if they solve somebody's specific vibe sensitivity then I reckon that's a good thing.

Depending on price, I'd take one.

Its been predicted by Mike@Barnetts that it could be $250....... There pressure plates and baskets are very nice, and a really good performance upgrade over stock on most if not all applications... There clutch disc, not so much.... Stock still tends to be the best.....

Tabasco, Is there a minimum number that Mike at Barnett is looking for? I would think that with over a thousand North American bikes and the Barnett Performance reputation, they would easily sell a bunch to the "gotta have it" crowd?

Not to mention if he decides to ship the across the pond? 8)

Not that I know of... because of Thanksgiving and now the last 4-5 day ice storm we just had, Ill get back on the phone with him and touch base... We've shipped Barnett parts around the world. I think Its more of explaining the situation and letting people know that there is a very good chance of a better part potentially being offered and eliminate a clutch vibration that "I" have...

So for the folks that might just now be reading this, if you feel you have a clutch vibe issue and might consider or want a billet redesigned basket from Barnetts, take a look at the first post and touch base with Mike from Barnetts and let him know...

emailed Mike. Love my S10, but at 16K miles I believe I"m experiencing the clutch vibration ever so slightly. Only bothers me on sections of my commute with things get to slow or stop/go mode. Feathering my clutch very slightly leads me to believe I would benefit from an upgraded clutch basket.

Thanks!

Not everyone has the technical knowledge of the discussion here. So it makes it hard for me to commit to what I don't understand. Are there photos or something of the sort to explain this new device.

I too have read through this and too don't understand what is being machined and what is being reduced as far as vibration goes. It seems by the video I have seen that there are spaces where the springs reside which when not under pressure are loose in there and cause the vibration from "rattling". Is this what is going to be addressed? Making the housing of the springs smaller then machining them so the springs don't rattle when not under a load?
It would be nice to hear or see what is going to be machined, and what is done to make this better. Would this then let the cat out of the bag so not as many sales go through people already who have done the work?
