In my opinion KBB is high, NADA is closer to the real world pricing. Also, all of the dealers use a version of NADA. Left over 2013's hare are priced at $9999.
Alot of years ago a pal of mine had a bike stolen. A guy showed up to check it out, was allowed a demo ride and never came back. Apparently this guy, this was his MO. He would ride a bike into the ground and then seal another one under the pretense of a demo ride.
My pas's bike turned up a year later when the guy rode it to demo ride another bike for sale and just kept going. Loca LEO's could not do much since the had not id on the guy and the plates on the bike were switched out.
So, understand that if someone takes your bike out for a demo ride and has an accident or crashes it, who pays?
Personally I would not allow a demo ride unless, as people have said you have in your hand an envelope full of cash or a cashers check.

Good luck with selling your bike.

Thanks again guys.

So is it safe to assume that the For Sale post I submitted yesterday in the Marketplace section didn't go thru? Or is there an approval process that takes place? I placed the post (or thought I did) around 20 hours ago. Should I just post it again?

Thank you!

Arky Paul Looked for your bike but didn't see it in the marketplace? Sold or still having difficulty posting it?

OK, I posted the bike for sale last weekend and have had no interest so far. I'm not in any hurry and I know there are a lot of new stock still out there but I can't help but ask this generous group if there is anything regarding how I've constructed the listing (here as well as CycleTrader ( http://www.cycletrader.com/find/listing/2012-Yamaha-Super-Tenere-112308031) that is limiting interest? Is it just the price, limited farkling, not on Craigslist?, current inventory available of new stock, combination? I assume so but this is a first for me so any advice on my listing would be very appreciated.

As always, I appreciate your comments and advice, you all are the best.

Thank you.

Your ad is fine. Just give it a bit of time. The S10 isn't the quickest selling bike around.

When I sell a bike it depends if I am planning on selling it locally or not. Locally I cruises craigslist and price relative to what I see comparable in value. Bikes and cars I plan on selling nationally (as in " I will help y ship it") I check eBay and cycle or autotrader. Whatever my feelings about the worth of a bike I don't price it over what other people are selling it for: what is the point of that. There have been cars I held onto just because I didn't feel like I could get what they were worth to me out of them on the market.

Also I figure out three prices; my dream price, my "good deal" price and my bargain basement price. I start out with the the high end numbers and work down. If the bikes been sitting around for awhile I start cutting the price. Now I have never had a bike loan before so I don't have to worry about the interest I am paying on the loan, and a stored motorcycle costs me about 6$ a month in insurance.

Just saw your add. Very well priced bike. Wish I were closer. I am about two weeks from pulling the trigger, and sadly the cost of shipping negates the relative value of the sale for me. I will keep an eye out though and when trigger time arises maybe we can talk.
