Alright...I have been staring at Steve's diagram and at my wires in front of me. I think I have everything laid out and know most of what I need. HOWEVER, I was planning on using the Highway Dirtbikes brake perch mounted switch instead of the PIAA switch.

I see the HDB switch is a two wire and Steve has a three wire switch. What am I missing? ::014::

The 3rd wire (brown black- ground) is for the 'on' light in the switch....

Sweet deal...so the switch has to be a 3 wire and not two?

No, all you need is a regular 2 wire switch. The PIAA just has a indicator light to tell you when the switch is on and needs a 3rd wire for that function. Just hook the 2 wire switch up as shown (brown wire - which is 'hot' when the ignition is on) connects to one switch contact, the other contact of the switch goes to terminal #85 on the relay.

Haha! Yep, not so much an eye-opening experience as it is an eye-burning one. :D

I'm bringing up this old thread to add my install of the BD Squadron Pro's. It's a pretty seamless install with the exception of contorting to get the zip ties in place and routing the harness. I had a hell of a time because I both have the ES model, and used the BD supplied harness which took up a lot of space. Just make sure you have full lock to lock on handlebars without binding the harness. The harness comes in two plenty long sections and the switch has a long lead as well. If you prefer to make your own harness, BD supplies all the plugs in the kit so you can build your own.

I have the Aurora Element Plus PDM. If I was to do it again I would take advantage of the built in relay that the Element Plus has. I instead did the plug and play with the BD harness. The way I have mine setup is to come on/off with the peanut switch after ignition is turned on. There are 4 wires that plug in. One red, 2 black and a yellow. The red and black go directly to the battery or PDM. The left over yellow "trigger wire" taps into the high beam and black to a ground. Or the yellow goes through the switch and to the battery, ignition source, or PDM.

I ran both ground wires to the negative in my PDM and both red and yellow trigger wire to a positive in my PDM.

Boy these lights are bright! I expected nothing less. I still have the original 2012 Squadron on my Beta. It worked good enough to get my Iron Butt safely on that bike. The adjustment was pretty simple. I had a hard time finding full darkness to adjust. I went to a local parking lot and got them setup there. I put the driving/spot combo on the left and stand alone spot on the right. Aiming is personal preference. Mine is setup to light up as far ahead as possible but not blind drivers. In the pictures it looks like the lights are pointing down. It's just the terrain. On the road the lighting is really good and blends together very well.

Before and after. Pictures do no justice:

Notice the trees on the local horse trail. It really lights up well. Dark spot up front is a downhill:P7220099.JPGP7220098.JPG
