Incase anyone is interested in more tire info.........

Wanted to show and tell a little info about the Motoz Adventure. I decided to take these to Colorado for some off road adventure riding. Not knowing what is around the next bend is what its all about ! And we CERTAINLY got that in spades. From road use, sand, water crossings, rocks, TONS of dirt roads, highway use, mud, Etc. I think you will get all terrain in the BDR. These provided excellent off road reassurance and many times provided excellent grip in water crossings, mud, sand, Etc. I was very happy with them all around.

Picking at any negatives: They do hum on the highway. I could care less with ear plugs and knowing the traction I have for the place Im going. We where fully loaded and self contained with a lot of weight. Until the edges got kicked off a bit I didnt feel super comfortable blasting the peg scraping corners. In the end you can take the mountain roads as deep as you want. Are these a sport bike tire, of course NOT, but a good street tire and an excellent off road tire. "The right tool - for the job at hand" (BDR)

This will probably be my new "forever" Super Tenere tire. For what I do, this will work excellent. We understand that the Wyoming BDR is really nice. Probably do this next year and will run another set.

When the tires were brand new the rear lug was 5/8" tall........ After 3,000 total miles and hundreds & hundreds of off road miles in all types of conditions the tire now has lost 3/16" (approximately 1/16" per thousand miles) This was also fully loaded. (With this type weight, I try not to accelerate hard on the tarmac and I also try not to slam on the brakes on tarmac. I road easy on the road, and I abused them off road, full disclaimer)

Is this tire for everyone...... Heck no...... But I wanted to provide a little 'real world' experience and if you're looking to possibly tackle a BDR, I would strongly consider having the right tool for the job. I would give these a 4.5 or 5 stars out of 5. They have been excellent

I was not given these, Im not sponsored, these were not free... I bought them and have no association with Motoz or dealers.

is that cracking down the centre of that tyre last picture

rob

No... that is what squeezed out from the mold during production......

I actually chose these because I had issues with the 804-805 Shinko from our last years trip. The front tire was WAY out of round and caused all types of issues. I got that resolved but I wanted to try something different...

This year, my BDR buddy put another set of SHINKO 804-805 on and we did the same trip. His rear tire is shot after the same trip and also has major cracks along the carcass of the tire next to the knobs. They started splitting at about 800 miles and just go worst. On our way home they just kept getting bigger and separating. I suggested to him that we slow down and just nurse the tire home and then pull it off.... That rear tire of his is not only shot from wear but its all cracked horribly.

I suspect he will never use them again and will probably go Michelin during the 'normal' year riding to work, and ride MOTOZ for another BDR.

wow congrats on doing the BDR. How difficult would you say was the journey? I’ve ridden my S10 on deep sand and found it very challenging.. also any tough steep hills?

Hello,

Its my second one. The first was Arizona that we did backwards. That one is "easier" than CO, IMOP. Yes, sand and steep dirt & rocky hills (mountains) Challenging? YES. It sure was fun, I hope to do it again one day. (It literally has everything you can think of, we got very lucky with no rain on the actual BDR. On the COBDR, if someone ran into a ton of rain in some sections you could probably be stuck there for days and not get out and not finish. You better have food and water out in the sticks.) Our concern became fuel and water. We where always on the look out for fuel and water. We camped out in the middle of no where several times. (camped the whole time, sometimes at remote camp sites, other times out in the back-back-back woods) Only came across one bear up close (20-30 feet). Be ready for anything- came across a guy on section 3 or 4, he waved us down and wanted to know if either of us were doctors? His friend had a badly broken leg and make sure we didn't rush up on him and others down a fast dirt road. We did come up to them and they had hit the SPOT emergency and were waiting. We thought this might have been a 20 something person, it was not, it was a guy probably 50 that made a mistake.
(For my buddy and I ) its not just being able to ride the obstacles, its being prepared for camping / food / shelter. And lugging all this stuff with you. And if you get hurt out in the middle of no where you need be prepared to help a friend or for them to help you. For instance, my buddy flipped his bike off a mountain out in Arizona BDR and it fell about about 20 feet down the side. He was OK and no damage to him. We had to use the SPOT, and other friends around the US to get the correct person to come pull his bike up off the mountain. It took this guy about 15 hours to find us out in the middle of no where. After this guy pulled his bike up off the mountain, I checked it all out (mechanically) and we got it started. (it was upside down for about 15 hours). We then continued on our way and eventually headed down to the Mexican border and then turned East and road home........ IMOP, the BDR is more than just a "ride", we find that you have to think about 20 steps ahead 'incase'.... Its not just a walk in the park dirt road ride. I have serious respect for these BDR guys.

I think virtually anyone can do it on almost any type of ADV type bike if your willing to go slow and just take your time.... You will DEFINITELY get to see things the average person will not see going down the high way. I think anyone who has experienced a BDR would say - "It will make an impression on you no doubt."

I look forward to the next , maybe Wyoming !

SIDE NOTE: The BDR web site is
excellent. Their GPS files are excellent. So far, everything I have experienced with those guys has been awesome. Visit their web site sometime to learn more.

Have you run the Mitas E-07 or E-07+? If so, would you compare them to the Motoz for us?

Yes, many times... I would like to first say that tires are very subjective to each and every person. Like anything in life, its a personal preference and each individual can just give his or hers "perspective". Obviously tires can act very different because of the bike, suspension set up, weight added to the bike, how someone rides the bike, where they ride the bike with the tires, tire pressures used, Etc. So take tire info with a grain of salt and everyone should get a tire that best suits there actual needs. "Or job at hand"

IMOP the E-07 are a bit more 'street' and the Motoz Adventure are a bit more 'dirt'. The E-07 is probably more comparable to the Motoz GPS.(below) I know many of us including myself ride mostly streets and some dirt roads or gravel once and awhile. The E-07 and the Motoz GPS is probably the better "everyday ride" type tire. The Motoz Adventure is probably a hair on the 'dirt' side for everyday riding too work. I was surprised by the miles so far Ive gotten with the Motoz Adventure. The E-07 and the Motoz GPS will probably get more miles for sure. The Motoz Adventure have a hum to them on the high way that Ive not heard before. I could care less, but someone else might care.

E-07 can get clogged up with mud for BDR use.... But it would work fine in most all conditions.

Motoz Adventure is a more open knob design, better for dirt, not as good if your pushing it on the street... I pushed it in the corners and had no issue.

The weight and carcass seem to feel similar, heavy and stiff like Heidenau. I found this to be excellent for the rock mine fields we came across. (no bent or damaged rims)

With all the sand we came across I think the Motoz Adventure did an excellent job 'paddling' through the deep loose stuff with ease.

Side note: I believe you can run the Motoz GPS tires bi directional.... One direction for 'street' use........ the other direction for 'dirt' use.... you can actually switch them at any time... This is really interesting because most tire manufacturers dont want you to do this. If someone took the time to switch these tires around, a rider (owner) could probably get even more miles out of them and keep these tires smooth for an excellent rolling with virtually no 50/50 vibrations....... Pretty interesting.... There are You-Tube videos explaining all of these tires..... I specifically tried the "Adventure"....

Hello Sir,

Currently 3000 miles..... Pictures in first post @ 1000 & 3000.... I really like them for what I used them for.

I've run a pair on my S10, and a rear or two on my DR790. They will once again appear on my S10. I'm a bit tyre agnostic, and have a dirt bias with my selection, buying whatever is a deal on the day. Next up, once I start riding again and finish off the current combo, is a BS AX41 front and E09 rear which are in the shed 'curing'.

I can also definitely recommend the Motoz Adventures, if you like to get dirty.

For anyone who has ever wanted to know ! This is the END of the COBDR.... LOL This photo is looking South from Wyoming. All around is NOTHING, the closest town is about 20 miles West of this spot that some people start the BDR from. Its a one street town with a small motel, and fuel station. It appeared that at one point there was plexiglass holding info about the BDR and also peoples stickers. Over time the sun and snow has cooked it and it broke out, or straight up vandalism. After doing two of these, Im always looking for a big "we finished" after the finish line...... LOL Ha-Ha-Ha........... Here is the party ! LOL

At this moment is was about 92-95* F.... So with our gear on we were not just hanging out... LOL After this photo, we road back south about 4-5 hours.
