A buddy of mine is a fireman. With the 97 thru 2004 Ford F150's, when they were called out for an actual fire they would always bet on cause prior to arriving. Over time they couldn't just say Ford F150 as it was almost always the case but they had to guess what color Ford F150. Apparently, lots of F150's caused a lot of house fires.
That should have been easy. Wouldn't all of the F150's have been "black" by the time the fire truck arrived? LOL

Latest Las Vegas odds are 500-1 that the recall will never happen. Those that believe should make the trip out there and place $1.00 bet to win $500. Otherwise you can always go opposite and bet $500 and win $1.00 if no recall happens. :D
OK, sorry, but the whole story from day one has never made one bit of logical sense. No offense, but I do not believe a word of any of this subject from the woman rider living in Hawaii, the fire, the emails to Yamaha, the new bike, the recall no one else knows of. None of it.

And yet, you can't help but come back here again and again. ::) Just unsub from the topic and stop trying to save us all Ron and iClint. Trust me, someone will PM you to let you know you were wrong when the recall comes out.

Yo Eric, not so quick. Give me a chance to make an easy "10 er" first!

Well I don't know if I'll get a response or not but I sent an email off to Yamaha of Hawaii, who is the Yamaha importer for the islands to see if they heard of the fire, the free bike and the recall. Tried a Google search for a motorcycle fire at the time period and came up with nothing. Hopefully this will put the controversy to bed.

Why do some people have to try and disprove something, when there are several that have posted enough credible bits and pieces of information that make most believe that a recall is in the works. And I doubt that a Google search will net any results, unless the fire cause a major commotion that attracted the newsies. You would have to search the fire or police department logs to find that information out, and most likely you can not do that on the web. That information is accessible, but you have to show up in person to request it.

Heck, this pales in comparison to those of us that own a VW TDI.

Best is to wait a month or so and see. That will be the ultimate resolution to your argument.

Didn't I see somewhere that Yamaha put the lid on this via NDA or similar? If so, you won't be getting any sort of confirmation. Besides, why all the sleuthing? ::021::

I'm going to give the OP the benefit of a doubt. I can't see any reason someone would make up this kind of a story. There would be nothing to benefit.

Yeah, my 91 Pontiac Bonneville caught fire going down interstate 70 in Kansas and none of the auto mags were interested in writing a story about it. ;D To add insult to injury, I didn't even get a new Pontiac from GM.
what is the best things that came out of Kansas?

The poster got a new 2016 model Tenere back in November. Rather strange several months later, the 2016 still is not showing up at any dealers I've searched. So I will add this to the other inconsistencies in the story. Due to inconvenience from a fire they drop shipped a motorcycle next day air to Hawaii possibly where the rest of the world gets it by ship across the ocean?
And back in November, several 2016 Tenere's were on the show circuit. Saw one myself in November, so I am sure there are more than a couple out and about. And if Yamaha wants you to have one, well I figure they would be able to put one in your hands before a dealer can....

I'm not really sure what your problem is with op. Seems like you have more of a problem with a manufacturer that went out of their way to fix a problem that Yamaha was likely not legally liable for. Although contributory negligence is an affirmative defense in most states, a brand new S10 is insignificant in comparison to the legal fees associated with defending that case. If I'm Yamaha, I'm going to grease that squeaky wheel real fast rather than deal with any BMW-esque reliability claims, or legal fees associated with a motivated class action lawyer. The conspiracy theories are ridiculous, it's just good business.

Imagine if this thread had started off with pictures of a crispy S10 with claims of "Yamaha warranty claim denied".

Folks - This thread is supposed to be about a recall, and whether it happens or not, STOP going on about the person who started the thread.

Please just let it go till we actually learn something usable, one way or the other.

Somebody asked why I deleted posts after my last one and the answer is that I simply drew a line in time. Otherwise it would have been a lot of subjective never-winning thought about how much to cut and from whose posts. Those are water already over the dam.
