So I got the bike up on the center stand and drained the oil.

Then I started the bike and revved it a little to get the remaining oils to shoot out. Made a huge mess, not sure if I will do this part again?

Put in some new oil and now when I ride around the engine or something down there is making a clacking noise.

What do you guys think?

This is totally a joke thread, and I hope everyone has a great weekend! Friday afternoons are lame!

You did it wrong..... Your suppose to fill it with kerosene and then ride it down the highway for an hour then drain and fill up with oil.... While your at it, fill up the fuel tank and your air box with kerosene, it will clean the filter and the fuel at the same time.... Then re fill with some $.87 qt oil from a no name corner store !!! Just leave the old filter on, no need to waste money, the new modern filters can last at least 60 thousand miles..

I like this part... have a great weekend !!!!!!

What brand of air did you run through it whilst getting the last of the oil out? You need to make sure you use mineral air as synthetic air is too thin and will damage the gonkulator valve. If so, you can get a replacement on eBay.

Why did you put oil back in it? Oil is heavy. You can save some weight by not running any oil. The engine can take it... It's a Yamaha, not a BMW! ::025::

good one...

That's a great mod I've not read about in a long time ::008:: Maybe he could find some bottled transylvania cave air... I've read before that could keep the motor cooler.. ::024::

I know exactly what that noise is. Unique to the Tenere is the fact that, upon removal of both oil drain screws, the oil filter auto rotates off. The noise you hear is the filter rattling around in your skid plate. I'd install a new one before too long. And if the noise bothers you, remove the old one. ::024:: R

You might have damaged the flux capacitor, this should be checked by an authorised Yamaha dealer asap.

Personally I find investing in better ear plugs is a surefire way to fix those sounds. Well...that, and putting some duct tape around that oil filter to stop it from rolling around in the skid plate.

Alternatively, remove the skid plate. R ::021::

Damn it. Somehow I always seem to overlook the simplest solution. Of course if I do that, then where will I keep all the oil that's in the plate? I consider that my back up oil. I use it whenever the oil light come on.

You need to pour the oil all over the engine so it will soak in where it's needed.
I read it on the internet.

Has anyone checked the scooter forum for him? I'm not sure what his name is over there, but if you find someone talking about the 'World's biggest Vespa' you may have found him.

Doug, and all forum members! Snakes doing OK!
I talked to him Thursday. He is dealing with some things right now that's taking up all his time and I'm sure he will return when he can. I'm also sure I will see him soon because when he burns up the last of his rear tire I have his new ones in my shop. :)

The Tenere requires oil
