Good advice. Will be riding this Saturday at carrot place. Will be doing the drills
If you really want an unnerving drill, sit way back on the seat, lock up the front wheel and ride in a skid. It’s an eye opener! Especially when you let off the brake with the wheel turned.

I've done 2 Shane Watts schools, and he does that drill as well. it really does help - unnerving at first, but fun once you get the hang of it. Helps in snowy Montana on my bicycle, too.

Well the LHRB is available for pre order:

If you are handy and want to just purchase the MC sleeve and cap, you can repurpose a mountain bike brake to fit. But man that sleeve is pricy.

So out of curiosity, how fast do you do the front brake skid drill
You start off from a stop or rolling slow in 1st gear. After some practice you are able to get up to 30mph or so. The purpose of the drill is to show how little traction the from wheel has when you are sitting back on the seat.

Terry, it would be money well spent to take a class from a real expert. We have some local, and there must be some in your neck of the woods. Here is one local to me. https://www.ridewiththeknights.com/

They do video drills too.

I would consider Jimmy Lewis an expert. I figure being one of the only Americans to podium a Dakar qualifies him. BTW, that link only shows video training. Jimmy Lewis course is the real deal and is a weekend of hard core training in the desert with not only Jimmy but pro level rider coaches as well.

mark ,took a peak at the link you proposed , looks interesting .... I do a lot of video stuff and when at the ranch do some practice on suggested techniques ..... lots of good stuff . no real reason not to be better with the rear brake just shows lack of practice .

I will tell you doing PT with resistance bands and standing on a balance board is a pretty good way to my well being when not being able to ride.
