Does Yamaha publish a parts list with a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) price? If so, where can I look up the part '23P-28356-01-00'?

Reason I ask is that I prefer to give my local dealer the business but they are now owned by a big multi-store operation and I'm starting to suspect that they're putting it to their loyal customers. They just quoted me $104.xx for this part. I looking online as a double-check and the part 'seems' to have an MSRP of $89.63, but can be purchased somewhere in the $58-$64 range. I'm ok with the dealer quoting me the MSRP price, that's how dealers roll, but it would REALLY chap my *ss if they're marking parts UP from full retail.

I think you ment "23P' which is a windshield bracket. MSRP is $89.63 and $58-$64 is a good price. All the dealers price programs can be set to add what ever percent to MSRP that they want. Looks like they are working at MSRP + 16%.

Yes, I did mess up the part number. I fixed it now. Thanks for pointing that out.

That 16% will contribute to them not selling any more bikes or parts to me! Hope it's worth it to them.

Sorry Jaxon. I typo'ed it the first time. Now fixed. Should've been 23P-28356-01-00. It's a windshield bracket. I broke one of the uprights off when the bike took a nap in a slick cement low water crossing in Fredericksburg.

It looks like a bunch of parts to remove to replace it.

For the multiple places selling parts online and word to the wise is that it pays to compare. They all have their own markups and while I used to recommend one, I no longer do. One store will seem to run the best prices for a while, then suddenly a different vendor will be much cheaper.

Thanks. A quick question. Here are the model options for 2013

SUPER TENERE (XTZ12DCG) CA
SUPER TENERE (XTZ12DCW) CA
SUPER TENERE (XTZ12DG)
SUPER TENERE (XTZ12DW)

I get that G=Grey and W=White but I'm not sure what the 'C' of DCG & DCW represents

One of our local dealers has a 20% mark up, but they advertise price matching. Not sure how many people get hit by this but I always come in ready with print outs of what and where I can get them cheaper.

Until now I felt bad for the brick and mortar businesses when someone would come and shop for a product and then leave and buy it online. Now I can say some businesses deserve it. That's EXACTLY what I'm going to do.

Yesterday I replaced the new headlight/windshield bracket that had a broken windshield support arm. Job was pretty straight forward even though you have to remove a significant number of fasteners. At least they were all relatively easy to access. Job took 2.5 hours from the time I walked into the garage to the time I put all the tools away. There was an extra 45 or so minutes in that time because I'm a major bonehead and over-tightened a bolt and it snapped off. Didn't think I was tightening THAT much! Oh well. Had to disassemble everything, remove the broken bolt piece and put it all back together. Second time was WAY easier since I then knew what I was doing.

So that brings me to my follow up question. I need to replace the bolt I broke off. It's one of the four that hold the headlight assembly to the new bracket. Take a look at this parts explosion:

http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/2013-yamaha-super-tenere-xtz12dw/o/m155678#sch860440

From what I can tell the only piece NOT shown in the schematic is the bolt I need. You can see they don't show anything attaching the headlight assembly to the base bracket. (BTW, it's not the #7 bolt, that holds the front facade to the headlight assembly). Bolt I broke was a 10mm head and about an inch (~30mm) long. It was carbon colored.

I find Ace Hardware is a better local resource for fasteners than Home Depot or Lowes. I usually have had success finding metric fasteners, even if they don't look exactly like the ones I'm replacing. Usually cheaper than specific ones from any manufacturer.

Same experience in Ace having a much better selection. Plus I generally go stainless in replacements (unless high strength) and Ace has generally has those.
