Hi, I've sent my ECU to 2whelldynowork and after being flashed, it is now in the mail for 7 weeks with no update since 5 weeks. At this point, I'm trying to find another ECU and maybe be able to do at least one ride this year. My bike is a 2015 so I'd be looking a a 2BS-8591A-30 or -40. Mine was -40 as it is a canadian bike but from what I've read, a -30 (US) should do it. Please get back to me if you have any information that could help me.

Unless you get really lucky that is a part not many people will never have...... If you want one the fastest and the least expensive, it will take a little work..... Start GOOGLEing motorcycle salvage (junk) yards... You might need to call 5-10-20 of them to find the ECU and then find your best deal. If you're willing to do the work, you will get a killer deal !

Thanks, I haven't found much motorcycle salvage yard but I'll start the search right away. My 2023 season is already screwed but hopefully I'll be able to ride my new bike soon.

There are MANY salvage yards around the country.... "most" places dont really know what a ST is or do they really care.... It's not personal to them at all..... You might find what you need on the other side of the country in a very small town with a guy who wants $30 bucks for it.......... (but it's up to you to call and find that "guy")

Ive done this type of exercise many times.......... I might suggest taking a legal pad and a pencil..... write down the business name, phone, and WHO you spoke with..... If you can confirm they have one (great), write down the price and then keep calling................ (make side notes of who you like to deal with, and the ones you DONT like to deal with........

At the end of the day, this will all easily come into focus and you can call "Tom" back and buy the ECU.......... Like I said, Ive had to do this many times over the years...... It might take me 5 calls, or 40 calls....... I got what I wanted for a great price, and the person I dealt with in the end was awesome ! (but it took time and work)

IDEEHO stones throw from the IBDR!!!
Did you insure the part? If not call 2wheel and see if they can/will work with you. Theres one on EBay for $300ish right now and Tabasco is right. Id call a parts yard and see what you can find. In the old days they had a "hot Line" that would put out the word nationally to other yards. Problem IS the part sells for $1300ish new and the yards know that. Obviosly the best bet is to see what 2Wheel will do and or look everyday HERE to see if someone unfortunately had an accident or other loss that you can both benefit from. GL!

I've had hard time getting answer from 2wheel, and they only have the ''usual'' 100$ insurance, so that won't cover the price. I haven't seen the one at 300$ as I would have bought it right away. And I will have to do a little bit of research as I'm from Canada and not sure where to start looking for motorcycle salvage yard. I've tried all the one I've seen on internet today, without luck, so let's continu.

thanks!!

Unfortunately, this one is for the 1st gen. Mine is a second gen with a different part number. The ony one available on ebay is a 1000usd, which make 1500$ canadian. A bit expensive. thanks again!

I'm sure you paid them with a credit card and the next thing I would do is a chargeback on the credit card. I can't believe they would send it back uninsured. That's not a business I would want to deal with.

Is your Tenere a Canadian model? If so, isn't there an immobilizer to deal with as well?

Just asking before you spend $$$ on a paperweight...

Good luck!

Important point. American bikes don't have the immobilizer, Canadian bikes do. Not sure if it would be plug and play if you put a non-immobilizer ECU into an immobilizer bike. Also not sure if the ignition cylinder immobilizer reader is mated to a specific ECU. Pretty sure the red programming key is, but I believe locksmiths can bypass that now.

I tried to confirm this but was not able to find anyone that would know. For few hundreds box, I'd try it. So far all I got is a 575lbs boat anchor in my garage ;).

I guess Anthony needs to update his shipping advice. I haven't sent mine yet, but last year he recommended insuring it for $900. I don't know if he insures return shipments for a like amount or not. I just checked and note that 2wheeldynoworks doesn't even make any suggestion for owners to insure their shipping to cover replacement costs. Unfortunately in your case, you weren't in good hands (as the Allstate adds used to say), but rather a single finger. Sorry to hear and hope somehow it gets worked out. This really sucks.
