The only thing that bothers me about the manual CCT is knowing exactly how much tension to apply. Too much would be bad as well I presume. Does the 3 degrees or less crank movement before the timing chain moves apply to the Super Tenere too? This bit is a fuzzy to me still. I had an old Yamaha XS750 triple with a manual tensioner, but it had tensioner spring. You would loosen the lock nut and then from a prescribed crank position rotate the crank slightly until the spring pushed the tensioner plunger in a bit. You then tightened down the lock nut again. i don't think that spring was very strong, just enough to take up any slack.
