I'd like a couple days travel on both ends, the middle of the week is good, Tuesday thru Friday, one week's vacation time.
IMHO, Zion sounds like a good choice to ride some amazing areas. The ride from Longmont, CO will take a couple of days-- so for me, a 3-day rally would be optimal.lacofdfireman said:if we stayed at Zion we could do Zion NP, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, North Rim of Grand Canyon and Toroweep. All great scenic rides and the Zion Ponderosa campground is super nice. They have cabins you can rent, Rv hookups, tent spots, pool, hot tubs showers etc. and tent camping is cheap.
Also I see a lot of you would be coming from out of state so how many days would the Rally need to be to make it worth your time?
Curious as well. Never been to rally and my wife will most likely be going and is going to get a new bike before then...it's not going to be a super 10.GOF said:After reading Combo's response I handed the laptop to my wife and got the same response as he did. ::015:: Does this being a bike specific rally mean I have to leave Granmaw's NC700 in the toy hauler? :'(
Most are using vacation time and have to be back to work Monday. Tuesday thru Friday is better. Everybody will be heading home Saturday morning.lacofdfireman said:I think since people are coming from so far away I would look at doing a 4 day. Wednesday - Saturday. Arrive Wednesday do rides on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and leave Sunday morning.
Also I'll most likely do the first one from Zion Ponderosa and if it goes well maybe move it throughout the state. So first year Zion Ponderosa the. Next year 2017 out of Torrey. Then after that decide if it would work to go farther north or explore Zion and Torrey more for other years.
I think just like any other bike rally I've been to that are brand make model specific you will find other bikes in the mix. Because it's a Tenere rally would not mean that you can't bring another bike it just means that the Tenere will be the main bike you should see. Especially if it's a friend or family member you wouldn't be turned away. Now if you want to show up to a KTM rally on your Tenere just realize you will get some funny looks. Especially when they are all broken down along the trail as you ride past them. HahahaLutsie said:Curious as well. I know Blanding well. That's where my parents are from and I spent most my childhood over there in the summers and every October for the Deer Hunt. That area would have some amazing rides also. Utah is full of great riding.craigd said:FYI, Moki Dugway is really far from Torrey. That would be more of a Blanding/Monticello Rally ride. So, Blanding/Monticello 2018?
Thank you laco, for the info and the laugh.lacofdfireman said:I think just like any other bike rally I've been to that are brand make model specific you will find other bikes in the mix.
