My 2014 ES has an Eibach 525. Much better than stock. Got mine off the forum. If I was doing it over I would go up to a 550. I don't ride much 2 up.

I go 240 plus gear, plus cases and tools. The common choice being the 525, I'm really curious of your thinking of going with a 550 instead. I'm trying to get a sense of which I should go with, your feedback would be helpful.

Sorry I didn’t get back on here sooner… I’m not so good at forums

anyways- I got it off amazon it was like 80.00 and it was the eibach 0800.250.900. I did get spacers from racetech…. I can post part numbers when I get home.

I weight 280 in street clothes. I’m not sure what the stock spring rate was but it was too low for me. I’m no expert here so if 900 lbs blows out my shock so be it I’ll get it rebuilt. I do not ride 2 up but I do carry stuff in my panniers regularly. I just don’t like the squishy bouncy feel it had- now I really like it- sits nice and high and is very firm. Ride one helmet and one helmet and cases when I have them on. Damping is set to standard

hope this answers any questions yall had

the race tech part numbers are:

SPSC B6461N x 2
SPSC B6158N x 2
SPSC B5855N x 1

three spacers at the bottom two at the top

Is your bike electronic suspension? The non ES uses higher rate springs like you have mounted.
correct- I have a 2015 ES…..yeah I see that. Between racetech recommending an 1100 spring (even tho they are dealing in non-ES only on their website) and all the reading I’ve done on ES spring rates that are used I decided to go big. I haven’t exactly measured my sag with a tape measure but using the TLAR method the bike severely squatted with the old spring. It’s still squats when I sit on it with the new spring just not as much. Not only that it rides much better now-planted and firm.

what are the negatives of having too much spring?

For me too much spring rate would be shitty ride. My’23 I know was too soft for my 180lb and stock spring and riding around without any preload is probably what killed the shock under warranty. My 525# spring with the additional +2mm spacer is working pretty good.
The rear suspension is progressive.
Just an attempt to avoid confusion. Glad it’s working out for you.

I think the 550 would give greater flexibility. With gear I am probably 220. I rarely ride with less than 1 helmet+luggage setting. With the slightly heavier spring, I could probably go down to the lightest setting. I would note that with these springs, the parking/sidestand dynamics is changed. Just yesterday I used the settings to lower the bike to reduce the lean.

Of course…. Great questions-thanks for clarifying . Like I said in my earlier post I am learning all this stuff and I appreciate the knowledge base that is here and how easily folks share ideas and data.

at this exact moment I am learning how to do vinyl wrap on all my red fairing pieces. Hopefully get out and ride some today

I guess my main worry with a 900lbs/in spring rate (about double OEM) is whether the preload adjuster motor of the ES will suffer excess load and wear?

"three spacers at the bottom two at the top"? Is that correct.
That’s what the guy at racetech said So I did it. Once I had it all apart it made sense to me so I moved forward with it. They all work together to keep everything centered on the spring, centered on the spring collar, and to provide a large enough shelf for the wider spring to sit on
