I have been a member of this sight for awhile now and have just arrived in North America with my s10 and my wife from Australia. I am now using a new computer and do not have my old log on details so I will start my details again. I have a 2011 S10 and have to say that it is the best bike I have owned in over 35 years of riding. We have been planning a tour of North America for over a year now and last week we arrived in Portland. After a few days to recover from the flight we picked up our bike and fitted it up with some new gear with the help of a member of the Hubb. We are planing an 11 week ride to Alaska, across Canada and then down to Wisconsin for a break. Then down to Arkansas and across to New Mexico and and then up through Utah Montana and Idaho before heading back to Portland.
Our trip has started a few days ago and we are now near Prince George B.C. We will be heading to hyder al before going up to Fairbanks via Whitehorse.
The tenere fully loaded has taken some getting used to as we are carrying camping gear on our OEM panniers and top case. About 150 km. into the ride its beginning to feel like an old friend and looking forward now to some off road riding.
Looking forward to meeting other riders along the way and will post more reports and photos as the ride progresses.

G' Day, JTC from Australia. Welcome from sunny Whitehorse. If you hurry, looks likes it's gonna stay that way for a while. I'm heading your way on Wednesday. We have friends just this side of Prince George. Sounds like a great trip. ::004:: to the Forum, and safe riding. R. ::022::

Though that I should post an update on our ride up north. Our second day in B.C. Led us up to the Sea to Sky Highway and I have to say that this has been on of the best rides I have been on, unfortunately it was all paved and had some speed limits that seemed to be a little low. The fully loaded handled S10 handled great and had more then enough power to keep a smile on my face. Our next two days threw some pretty bad weather at us. Temperature was well below 50f with lots of rain, strong winds and hail, not the best riding weather but the Bridgestone battle wings handled all of it with ease. We have cut these days short due to the weather and am hoping to make up time tomorrow when the forecast is warming up. Hyder Alaska will be our next stop in two days and am hoping to get off road in the morning.

We have Ben on the road now for almost two weeks and am now in Tok Alaska and have ridden over 6000 km so far. We have encountered every type of weather so far and every type of road condition. Today had to be the worst we have come across, with heavy rain, strong wind and very cold temps for over 450 km.we have Ben riding the whole day on the Alcan with continuous road works almost the whole day.

Along the way the highlights so far has been :

Stewert / Hyder with great weather, very little traffic , good road with lots of curves , fantastic scenery and a private show by a mother bear and her two cubs. Also had some great of road riding thanks to the advise of some locals.

Sea to Sky highway was just a fantastic road and would highly recomend it.

The Haines highway had to have the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen with snow caped mountains, glaciers and a great road with no traffic.

We ran into some trouble with the back brakes on the S10. About 60 km out of Smithers B.C. I lost all use of the rear brake and noticed fluid dripping. We made it to Smithers and the owner of Eye Candy Custom Bikes cut short his lunch break and reopened to look the brakes. With in 30 minutes he had the bike back on the road. Because the bike is fully loaded I have to put my leg over differently and bumped the break line with the heel of my boot. This guy runs a Great business and also got me a great discount at a local motel and invited us over after he closed shop for beers and a BBQ.

We off to fairbanks next and a week around the area before heading east across Canada.

Hoping to catch up with other Tenere riders along the way
