If it has more hp it must be better. If part gaps are within 1mm it must be better. If has more tech it was be better. If carbon bits it must be better. If it has.....
60 hpSo. . . . how much more hp/lb ft does she need?
About 80 lbsHow light do want her to be?
Speed shifter, speed shifter, speed shifter. What additional features are a "must have"?
Face muscles hurt a bit from all the grinning you do whenever you jab the throttle. There's going to be trade-offs for the requested changes.
I can understand your point however it can just be was cheaper to introduce a new, "model" at the cost of boring it out along with a host of new minor features. It's like yamaha with its world crosser spec with carbon bits, lights, graphics, and new side cases because the old ones were junk. This is the good thing about the other brands. They are permanently updating. So, you just bought a 790 adventure, and it is already an "old model" ... they already presented the 890 ... why they didn't make the 790 890 and they saved a step?... did they think when they made the 790 that if they put 100cm3 more on it, would it be better?
I dont know if they are stupid.....or they want to take us for stupid

It’s a way to generate more brand impressions, generate more revenue, and most importantly… Generate more profits. So you’re right, they think we’re stupid. This is the good thing about the other brands. They are permanently updating. Well, even with the Yamaha reliability, they still can have bugs. They didn't redo the original CCT and clutch basket because they were flawless. Even with Yamaha's famed reliability (and I'm a firm believer in it, that's why I bought the S10), a big new upgrade can still have some kinks to work out that might be nice to be aware of in advance. If a new upgrade did arrive this winter, I wouldn't be ready for it anyway, since 100,000 miles is a mark I want to reach with this bike, so my timeline for the bike would coincide nicely with a shakedown period for an upgrade.Update bugs? It's a Yamaha. Although not impossible, highly improbable. I can't remember reading on here about any issues from Gen 1 to 2. If. . . . when, the Gen 3 comes out. . . . I'm gonna get the bowl of popcorn, sit back, and watch the posts fly. Maybe I have low standards, but, my bike does everything I need/want it to. . . . and it's paid for.
and 2 wiring recallsBut, wasn't the CCT an issue for the entire Gen 1 run?
As far as I know, yes. It took Yamaha four years to put the new CCT into service on the 2014, but I'd hazard a guess that owners in the field were aware that this was a potential weak spot on the pre-2014 bikes before the new part became available. But, wasn't the CCT an issue for the entire Gen 1 run?

I’m with you in this school of thought, but only wait a year or two post Gen3 release, then pick up a bargain. That is of course once we know if the 3 exists and then what it brings with it.I should hit 300,000 miles in the next 10 years I cant wait for gen 3 to be on the used market so I can buy it for 50% off MSRP.
Low standards, really? The Super Tenere has been a good and very capable bike, from day 1 of release. I’m surprised you feel that way.Update bugs? It's a Yamaha.
