If you *had* to ride a different bike, what would you pick?

Been giving this a lot of thought lately. If you had to ride something else, what would you choose?

I was thinking I’d probably pick the Kawasaki Versys 1000. Its no tenere, but its a great bike for the kind of riding I do.

What say you?

The other bike I have, most similar to the Tenere, is my KTM1290R. I ride the Tenere 90+% street and the KTM 90+% not street.

It's actually really weird to change back and forth. The only similarity between these bikes is that they have 2 wheels.

Hands down, an FJR. (if I was going "new", my ol' FJ is still fine) Gobbs of power, cruise and shaft drive.

Shoot……..

I could pick 8-10 bikes that fit the needs of all the riding I do. Currently I would probably pick a T700 so I could rip on the rest of the BDR’s. Or a KTM 1290 for BDR abuse.

In the spirit of the post I'm going to only pick one and I'm going to have to go with the Kawasaki Versys 1000. That engine is a drem, chassis is excellent on road. Very comfortable also. That's the other bike I was looking at when I got the super tenere.

the Guzzi v85 is very tempting ... looks fabulous , a great price , less than 500 lbs , and my buddy "superman " loves his . so if something happened to my Tenere , the Guzzi would be high on the list.

Guzzi looks real tempting though

I really like the sport touring bikes, and have owned the Honda ST1300 and BMW 1200RT. I would probably look at the FJR as the next one if I stepped away from the adventure bike. Currently waiting for the specs on the new Guzzi V100 as it could be my next bike.

I would probably go back to another GSA or pickup a HD just for kicks, even though i'm not a fan.
I kinda like the KTM's BUT just too many of them out there and I just don't want to be another orange minion. That is one of the thing I love about the S10, they are few.

I would be leaning to the BMW R1250GSA low suspension, which is the little Gold Wing. Couple days ago I was riding the DR650 with hard bags through a narrow gap between a light pole baluster and a parked car and nicked the bag on the baluster. Pushed me off to the side and I was able to keep the bike from falling and hitting the vehicle. I was surprised it didn't do anything to the bag. At that moment I realized the advantage of a lightweight bike. Was looking at the Goldwing but decided I didn't like the low 29-30" seat height. If the bag had been fiberglass there'd probably been some paint damage at the least. Some curb feelers might have avoided that. So many choices.

FJR, hands down...however, after spending a few days with a riding buddies, buddy and his 1250 GSA factory low, the taste for kool-aid is strong!
