I have an S10, FJ1200 and $2000. What to buy next?

So here's the deal. I have the above mentioned bikes. The 2013 S10 is fully equipped for touring, MCCruise and all. Very competent bike, but after a long day in the saddle, the tingle in my hands is almost unbearable. The FJ1200 is all ate up with motor, with zero vibrations. Not as good in the bad weather, and no luggage, or easy way to install a cruise.

With a couple of thousand bucks, what would you buy? I don't want something that will compete with the FJ as a cool short distance bike, and I wouldn't be above keeping the S10 in the bullpen next riding season, and possibly moving it along Spring 2025. Off road is off the table, for now. Street only.

Looking for something reliable (I guess that means no BMWs). It can be old, as with what I've seen in the 33 year old FJ has impressed me.

Thoughts?

I paid $2200 USD for my mint FJ. I'm not looking for a Multistrada, and I could likely stretch the budget a thousand or so, but before I trade the S10 in, I want to give myself a cooling period, if you will.20230717_152924.jpeg

Sounds like you're just bored with what you have and want something different just for the sake of it being different. Those two bikes are adequately diverse and it will be hard to buy an "older" bike that will give you the right combination of those two. A newer Adventure bike like the KTM, Ducati, or Triumph would bridge that gap with both comfort and power, but it would probably take both of your bikes on trade, and MORE than 2K to buy one! JMHO

As you said, you have all types of riding covered with those two. The only thing would be technical off-road. So, a dirt bike. Or an enduro. And the $2,000 would be close to covering the cost of an older one. The TW 200 would be perfect, but their prices have gone up. I paid $1,400 for a showroom condition one.

The V-Max is tempting, but that's more of a one trick pony.

a TW200 is in the short list. There is also a semi local PC800 for $1200, and 42k miles on it. I know they're bulletproof. Also a couple of Naked GL1100s, a little farther away, for around the same prices. I only go out in the dirt with The Lovely Mrs. RogerRZ, so we take the ATV. She never comes out on the bikes...

The TW is my wife's. She hated the KLR; too big. She can sit flat foot on the TW and loves it. When we first got it, my wife put 77mi on it . . . . in our 1-acre yard. See if your wife is willing to take a test ride on a TW. It's so easy to ride.

The Pacific Coast is the scooter looking thing, right? I'd stick with an actual scooter.

With the cost of all these bikes these days, many of us, or even future riders might need to start thinking outside the box like the auto industry. Here is the new DO ALL bike..... (this guy has several other videos that are totally hilarious)

Start at 2:30.....

I added a Honda Forza to the stable a couple of months ago and it's been seeing more action than the S10. Really fun to ride. $2500 Similar to this one.

Thanks for that, Jaxon. Most entertaining MC videos I have seen in a long time.
