Put in my order today and plunked down my $500 at my local dealer....

They took a thousand off invoice and gave me a fair price on my trade-in....plus, will sell me my desired upgrades at cost plus 10%....I still lost money, but hey...it's only money.

Nice! welcome to the hurry up and wait club. ;D

Fair price too. Did you happen to get prices on the accessories? How does cost plus 10% compare to list less 17%?
Tony at Yamahasportcenter has listed accessory prices in Vendors at 17% off list. Just wondering if your dealer is giving you a better deal, got to factor tax too so you might be better off with Tony if you are out of state.

Congrats on the order!

Yeah...don't know...fair questions.....my order was the dealer's first so he did not yet have any data on parts and accessories. There are two others on the site from my town...and he had talked to two other potential customers in town (could they be one and the same?)
The cost plus 10 was his reply to my ask of list minus 30%, so let's hope I didn't negotiate myself into a worse deal.

Chances are they are close to the same number. You can verify before ordering what the better deal is with all things considered. Happy for you! Enjoy the waiting now.

Are you sure it was a thousand off invoice? Perhaps a thousand off MSRP? He would be losing money at a thousand off invoice.

I'm not sure of the margin on Yamaha parts, but I get cost plus 10% on Honda parts and that is a very good discount, better than I can get at any on line discount vendors. I'll get the same deal when I order Yamaha parts, so I'll find out when I order some.

Congrats! I'm heading Litchfield on Saturday and if I like what I see then punching the order button will happen very soon. Also, curious about if you meant MSRP or invoice.

Re: I came, I saw, I ordered....Clarification

Yes...sorry, $1,000 off MSRP. Accessories is dealer invoice plus 10%.

I haven't been the same since I stopped drinking cough syrup.

A heated grip here, a couple of sidebags there....pretty soon, you may have assembled an entire bike

What company in Sweden did you get the heated grips from? are they OEM? I'm from Sweden and go over there once in a while. $395 for OEM grips here seem steep.

For a few weeks, Sweden marked them down to $140 US Dollars. I jumped on it, and ordered them through another member here. Sweden has since jacked them back up to higher prices. They were in fact OEM Yamaha. I wasn't going to go with them, but for that price, why not???

Seeing all of the discounts on bikes posted on here makes me resent my dealer. He assured me that it was against Yamaha policy for dealers to discount bikes during the PDP so I signed a purchase agreement for MSRP. Some of you guys are getting the bike for $1500 off. You can bet that I will not be giving him any accessory business.

I know that this happens, as it has happened to me over the years on one thing or another. The main thing is not let it ruin your enjoyment of the particular item. I too wish I had spent a little more time on ADVrider and here before I pulled the trigger, as I think I could have gotten an even better deal from my local dealer. I bargained for what I thought was a fair price - until I read of a few deals later. Still, I'm happy and look forward to getting my SuperT!!

I agree, there will always be someone else that got a better deal. No reason to fret though, just enjoy it when it comes in and maybe you will be on the other end of the deal spectrum for the next purchase.
Look at it this way, even at full MSRP we are still paying way less than our friends overseas.

Thanks guys, and yeah, you're right, $13,900 is still more than fair for a bike that stacks up nicely against the $20K competition.

The local economy is fixin to be even worse off than it already is when the last space shuttle has launched, so I guess my local dealer will be hurting for any kind of business at all for several years. In retrospect, I realize that he may not be in a position to offer discounts. Now that I think of it, I haven't seen any of the sales staff there lately, so I think the general manager is the only guy working the floor.
