Lol....there is something oddly comforting .......to find out your not the only one who has ever had problems with these Yamaha locks.....Ugggh....weakest link in the whole Yamaha Tenere package

Yes its pretty poor quality... I was not impressed at all.

Decided to check the screws on the pannier locks after reading this post and sure as shoot they were barely tight. Got the T10 security bit and some loctite and back in business. Thanks to all with the suggestions and saving alot anxiety trying to open the cases as described here. Cheers to all

To bad i read this tread late. Mine fall down last year, and i used a drill and 1/8 drill bit to puncture a hole and get the back pin out.

took me 5 minutes to do it and the small hole does not bother me….

Cylinder came out today when I attempted to open top box. With Cylinder in hand I returned home, and applied locktite to all locks. This can be a no-kidding prob on a trip, now I'm a believer. Recommend doing it now-only takes about half a beer.

Had it back out and was about to fall out in a parking lot in Winnipeg at 10 PM on a Tuesday. Got it open using down ward force and carefully turning the key. The next morning I stopped at crappy tire, bought the screw driver and some blue lock tite. Got everything put back together and did the 2,000 km ride home. Then promptly bought some Giv Treckers and am happier that I will now not snap my ignition key off in side cases.
