Make sure that is your engine check light and not the oil light. They are next to each other and the mistake could be made.

The engine oil light may come on with hard engine braking and is normal.

If you made a full turn to compensate, and you are using the Harmonizer, it may be defective.
Mine worked good the first time I used it and then went south.
Grok(Mark) will work with you if need be. When you have it on and the engine running, check the rpms. That, and the bad adjustment range is what gave it away for me.

I have a few questions to answer...
It's the check engine light..
I bought 5/32 hose.
I think I'll back off the adjustment a 1/4 turn and re-check with my Harmonizer.
How would I know if my Harmonizer is defective without having another tool to compare it against?
At the moment, I have two challenges. My garage is full with building materials and there is a storm rolling in off the coast. Both of those issues should be resolved in a few more days.
I'll report back when I know more.

I set the CO settings to 4 and the engine is running better with good gas mileage.

I say better though not very good. There is Surge or Blubber at low speed while going off-throttle then lightly on-throttle.

What should I expect if I were to increase or decrease the CO settings?

This is how I noticed mine was faulty.. When hooked up, bring the rpm up to 3000 and let off. If the rpm shown on the Harmonizer stays in a higher range then the engine, there is a problem. Mine were staying around 7600 and taking awhile to drop. Also noticed at 1/2 turn out on the right side, I would have to close the left side to get near 0.

I knew this wasn't right because it was ok the first day I used it.

Have you set the TBS? When you adjust the CO, you really should re-sync.
I first had mine set at +3 and it was ok. Then set it at +6 and 3/4 on the sync, I did not like the way the engine was running so I went back to +4 and 1/2 on the sync. Now I am back to +3 and 3/8 on the sync. There was not(that I could tell) difference between 4 and 3, but a difference between 3,4 and 6. Each time I reset the CO, I did a TBS.

Each time I road the bike I noticed the roll on from a stop and whether or not I liked it. Also checking the mid range feel and the MPG.

When you check yours and ride, look for the subtle differences and the one that you like the best.

I hope this helps..

I am running between 42 and 44 mpg, hand calculated. Really have not done a long run, but will get a better idea this week.
I am going to Ar and should put around 2,000 miles on.

OK. I can do that. The first time I used it, I ran hte motor up to 4K and the RPMs displayed on the harmonizer stayed in sync with the rpms displayed on the tach.

Thanks for the input!

I hope to re-sync the TBs tomorrow. Supposed to be clear tomorrow so I will be able to ride after the re-sync.

I want to get it running right so I can take off for a few days.

Last Friday I set the CO levels then rode 350 miles and averaged 49.49 mpg. Hope to keep the mpg high.

My last couple rides over the Sierras had me at or above 50mpg too. It's a speed thing. I don't think we'll see that at 80 while we keep from getting run over on the freeways around here. But I am staying north of 40 mpg at those speeds. Pretty cool.

Surprisingly we get better gas mileage when riding 8,000+ passes and twisties than we would on a flat 70-75 mph freeway.

My average mileage per the computer has been 51.5 since my last 1100 mile trip. Much better than I expected, but I'm staying in TC1/touring mode 90% of the time. I haven't ordered crash bars yet, so I'm trying to be good. O:)

I find the AVE MPG is high by approximately 3 MPG but 48 MPG is very good.

I can understand the fear of crashing without Guards. I haven't ordered mine yet and it keeps me from attacking the off roads.

Hello ,I am writing from Italy and I apologize for my english.I would like to ask you ,when you have syncronized the trottle body, have you cheked the levels of depression with a good instrument?Because the service manual says that the levels could be between 26,5 and 29,5 cm hg and after having unscrewed of 270° what are the values? Then I inform you that when the bike have runned for 20000 km you need to clean the throttle body before make alignment . Regards from Italy.

I was doing VERY well in and around Colorado, but now on my trip to Texas and my mileage has gone in the dumper. Granted I have been fighting the wind almost the entire trip, but now I'm getting in the mid to upper 30's.

Picked up the shop manual last week and have a question. In section 3 Periodic checks and adjustments there is no section on adjusting the exhaust gas volume. It seems its being done through the diag settings available on the bike, by those in the know that have been good enough to post the info.
I'm thinking it might be kind of hard to talk to the local dealer regarding this adjustment if its not in the manual. :(
Does anyone know if the US version of this manual has that section? Canadian manual part #23P2819770E0

Check for vacuum leaks before doing anything else.

I agree that could be a factor, but I don't think it is the cause of my problem. I think mine is related to lower elevations and strong head and cross winds. My vacuum hoses are all back to stock.

I finally re-adjusted mine last weekend. I'm at 180 degrees from full-in. The CO setting is +4. Re-harmonized.

The bike's running great. S-mode is a lot more fun. The new asphalt speed bumps down the street keep activating my traction control... I don't know how that keeps happening.
