I now have 2800 miles in 2 months of ownership. My only problem is that I don't get to ride it enough. I also had my first wild ST sighting this past Wednesday on the Apache Trail.

The one thing that does bother me is the spedo reads 80mph and my GPS is showing 74 mph. For a dig spedo I would think this would be more accurate.

VFR was off by about the same so I'm used to it, but agree nonetheless...annoying!

As I read all this info a few things come to mind. I have had the bike stall one or two times but no big deal. Starting has been an issue one or two times as well but again so far and few I did not worry about it. The one thing that does bother me is the spedo reads 80mph and my GPS is showing 74 mph. For a dig spedo I would think this would be more accurate. All and all this is one great bike. PS I wish it had a temp gauge.
Yea this drives me crazy also! No idea why they can't make it read correctly.

There's probably an adjustment for that via either hardware or firmware, but it's most like not available to the average Joe. Something akin to the wheel size adjustment on the TT Vapor and alike would be cool. I hate to add to the clutter by going with and aftermarket speedo.

A gauge for eng that you can see, I leave the avg MPG up at all times to slow my ass down. If i get 40 I know I am doing better at slowing down. Without the side bags I get 44 mpg. A friend I ride with gets 45 to 46 mpg all the time. When I get to the dragon, MPGs drop like a rock, 34 to 36mpg wahoo.

you're in luck, it actually has 2 temp gauges, one for engine temp and one to show the air temp at the air box.
What temp gauge are you wanting ?

Maybe I should do that. My average says 34 mpg.

On the speedometer issue, most bikes are off, as well as cars. I typically run 5 mph over the speed limit and am often passing cars at a 10 mph speed difference just because they are going the 'indicated speed limit', rather than the actual speed limit. Another option for a correction device, at essentially the same price, is the Speedohealer They also offer a gear indicator that plugs into the speedohealer or can be installed as a stand alone device.

@justbob - Funny guy. ::) It would still be nicer if they had given us an ambient air temp gauge that worked better than the airbox conversion. Some of us ride in freezing temps and it's sort of nice to know when the temps are changing up or down and by how much. Watching the water by the side of the road tells you a lot, but not when you come over a pass at night and the temp goes up or down just enough to do bad things to the water or ice.

34 to 35 is what I was seeing, and eating back tire, easy on the throttle and 75 mph and under makes a big diff. You would think at my age and lots and lots of miles undr my belt slowing down would be no problem, but damn it I just love it.

11,000+ miles.

Stone reliable.

But rear tires are gonna be a bother. 8)

Only a few of you guys are 12,000 or more. Anyone need brakepads yet?

Oh, and if Pluric can't break it, it's one tough machine that the rest of us can just ride and not worry. ;D

Wheelies?

Loved your report. Sounds and looks like ya'll had a fun time.
I'm going to guess washboards more than wheelies.

Thanks on the RR. I just finished it.

So can we officially name it "THE WASHBOARD WEEP"?

Is anyone good at writing blues tunes?

11,500+, brake pads look fine, I just took a peek when changing my front tire for Anakee 2.

My only problems was cooked right headlight connector, and could not down shift below 4th gear when going slow. Grease on the shifter fixed that, it was pretty corroded. I guess you could say the front spring caused me to break my front fender (too firm on compression), so changed out the spring. Happy camper.

I got bitched at on a previous brake pad thread, but lets just say it's a matter of riding style that dictates how long your brake pads will last. We do have linked brakes, so front application will also apply some rear brake. That may show up later as rear pads wearing differently than 'normal' for a given rider. I turned over 17k yesterday and the pads are still looking great, even front and rear, side to side. (Had the wheels off a couple of days ago)

Seems like someone posted on the forum they replaced their pads at 5900 too, which is just a flip side of riding style. I typically go a very long time before needing pads and don't generally use the brakes unless I'm coming to a stop. But I also ride mostly street, with a nice sprinkle of gravel, but very little true off road, dirt riding.

10,000 miles and had front side light blow! and just spotted the heated grip cable looked a bit tight, glue had given way exactly like the FJR did so still had the sticky stuff to glue it back up.

Other than that all good, another 3,000 miles planned for next week. ::021::

Good tip. I noticed mine was getting hard to find neutral and stiff down shifting.
I'll lube it up.
