Well there is this place called Toompine, way out bush in the western part of Queensland, Australia southwest of Quilpe where the rail line ends. It was a way station for travelers back in the early days and still is there (picture to the left.) My dad, one of the first Yanks in Australia (December 1941) in WWII married my mom, an Aussie during the war. They went back after the war and he became fast mates with the proprietor, Freddie Houghton. I was born there on that 6 year stay and sort of adopted it as my part of the outback because my dad was so over the top about this trail side, red dirt place. Sort of represent the true Aussie heritage to me. I had an Uncle that lived bush most of his entire life about 100 miles west of the place.
Keeps me part of the country and the Aussie family by using the Toompine as a call name.
